The older you get the harder it is to find a band that it is trying something new. So, as I stood at my traditional spot in the stalls at the Manchester Apollo, (favourite gig The Clash 1980) I was delighted to see and hear that the boys had a top five show. I did the Academy last year and they have upped their performance level and a second album has helped expand their repertoire.
Stick to the theatres please. Please no MEN next time.

Vampire Weekend were brilliant.
Thoroughly entertaining and sounded amazing.

Would suggest they hired an alternative support group though as they were absolute bobbins.

I have been to my first of many gigs this year and what a way to start. The atmosphere was exactly that, an atmosphere of pure enjoyment from the crowd. The band enjoyed themselves and you could see the body language in the way they played. It just said were enjoying been on stage right now. The crowd participation was also a factor that showed what a very pleasant evening it was, rocking to one of the most exciting bands around at the moment.

The whole gig started with the less uptempo songs from their two albums, but picked up pace as the show went on. Personal highlights were the Horchata, White Sky, Cousins, I Stand Corrected and finally Walcott.

Can't recommend seeing them live enough - this is one gig I won't forget in a hurry!

Fourth visit to see Vampire Weekend and as before thay were amazing!

I thought it was a great gig, it took them a while to warm up as it had been a while since they last toured, but they didn't disappoint. They were brilliant live, very entertaining & good fun ;)

Showing early form, VW thrilled The Relentless Garage with a nice mix of 'old' and new material. A special shout-out to Chris on drums, producing some menacing rumbles.
And by the way: Rostam, were you on heavy medication, did you just wake up, is it hard for you to even enjoy your own music or would you really rather have been somewhere else than on stage? Come on, man, smile some more during the rest of the tour. You guys produce great, uplifting music - trust me, you don't look fashionable by acting as the only band member visibly suffering from a bout of depression.
PS. The gig was a bit short, clocking in at just 50 minutes...

Great Gig - no frills just great music in a great venue. Not overcrowded or uncomfortable. Even better as the tickets were free because I pre-ordered the Contra CD from HMV.
