i write this as a wearer of the gold and black. fulham is a charming club, the walk along the thames to and from the game in the warm april sunshine was awesome. shame the game was not on the same level. fulham fans are middle/upper class, playing in a quaint old stadium, and that's what makes football at fulham fc not work. the working class game has gone, at 35 quid a ticket, and a neutral stand that was occupied by a thousand or so wolve fanss and part time fulham fans, plus tourists from at least ten countries, the game is dead. long live the game. There was no passion from the home side or their fans. the stadium is not fit to house a premier league club, very few toilets, very sub standard in this day and age. There was a long queue for the gents at many times. To be honest, there are many championship grounds with better facilities. Wolves got the result they came for and Fulham just about broke into a sweat. The hundreds of fulham fans leaving 20 minutes before the end told the story of the game, or perhaps they leave early every game to get to the deli or wine bar before it closes. The american tourists wearing UCLA or Penn State sweatshirts and Fulham scarfs looked bemused as the trudged out half an hour before the 0-0 draw, they simply can't understand it. Good luck to Fulham in Europe this week. Both players and supporters will need to show more passion.
