Only went to take my teenage son and his friend; didn't really think they'd be my "thing". I had a great time, their fans were really friendly and the music was fab. Loved the vocals, thanks!

I loved this event, it has been so intense from begins to end. The 2 support groups has done a great job warming up the audience with excellent tunes. Sonata artica are really one of my favourites band and this concert let me know about the new album which i was not aware of. I really enjoy each moment of the evening their energy widespread among us so quickly once they took over the stage, I ll definitely attend another of their dates once available

The venue was small so that made it a very intimate gig, which proved to be a success. There wasn't a huge crowd but the crowd were huge fans just like myself which made the atmosphere even better. The support acts were very good (Pythia and Neonfly - have since been looking up their albums also. The support acts came down into the crowd after the gig was over to sign things and meet fans). But Sonata were amazing as expected, all the band members played up to the crowd with guitar and keytar solos and humour and getting the crowd involved with lyrics and chants, playing sides off against each other. Tony was very natural on stage and comfortable. He chatted a bit between songs, made jokes and acted out the songs effectively and sang to individuals and made eye contact (including myself, I don't normally get excited about famous people but it made my night!). It was like he was just playing to a group of his friends in his back yard (but with awesome sound and lighting) I can't explain how awesome these guys were! Would definately see again and very soon!
Only downfall: wish they played more songs (obviously) and more of their older stuff but they were promoting their new album so it's understandable. Also would have loved to have got his autograph afterwards.

Went to see Sonata Arctica in Manchester the other night; it was really enjoyable, and there was a good mix of older stuff and their newer albums. The venue was great too (it was small but spacious enough not to feel cramped) and had a great atmosphere, and I also very much enjoyed the support bands -- as a fan of Neonfly I was really happy that I got to meet them. :)

Wow - what an amazing gig! I've been waiting for years to see them live and they certainly didn't disappoint. The musical talent of the band is impressive and Tony Kakko is such a charismatic front man. I actually felt awed to be in his presence. I'll never forget this and will be first in line if they tour the UK again

Got in and straight away the sound technician himself had done an obviously poor job with the sound as all you could hear is bass and drums.... Coming onto the main act thinking the desk would be set for sonata arctica I thought the sound would be spot on, but no, the constant low end feedback, nothing but kick drum vocals quiet as anything else and a guitarist who couldn't barely be heard most of the time set the gig up to be absolutely terrible, this is my fourth time seeing them and over the past few times the enthusiasm has dropped the music itself has got more basic dull boring and repetitive and now the sound is out the window and the Toni's vocals were shabby at best struggling to reach former amazing highs and relying on the audience to carry those parts of songs. Terrible isn't the word.

One the first bands I ever went to see live and I was scared that the amazing sound on the studio albums wouldn't be matched. But these guys rocked from start to end and had some amazing support bands that helped set the stage.
Also instead of going from song to song, they interacted with the audience sharing some stories behind songs and thier life making you feel more with the band then ever...

Amazing band - I've seen them twice now and each time gets better and I would recommend this to anyone :)

When you listen to a band for a long time without seeing them live there is always a lingering fear that they just won't match up to the polished studio version. Sonata Artica are everything their albums are and more.

Wonderful showmanship, excellent vocals and the musicians excelled themselves.

For starts, this was one of the only gigs I have ever been to where the support acts were really good as well. First to play were Awake by Design who got the crowd excited and played a really fun set. Then Triosphere which had a female front and i would suggest any who hasn't ever heard of them to check them out. Finally for the support acts there was Labyrinth who again played a really strong set and got everyone ready for Sonata Arctica.

Sonata Arctica themselves were so amazing. The set list wasn't that different from the set list of bloodstock but the atmosphere was completely different and I was only stood metres from Tony which obviously made all the difference. The band put so much into the performance that it really showed. I would recommend anyone who hasn't to go see this band live right this second.
