Simon didn't gte on stage until 20:50 and wrpaped up at 21:50. Perhaps he had a bus to catch but I think he forgot that we expected a full show not just the first half... Very dissappointing, obviously he lacked material!!!! Avoid or take a book for the second half that never arrives...!!!!

I enjoyed Simon's show, although it did feel a bit like a group therapy session. Simon was really funny, however he didnt seem to be able to deal very well with the crowd making noises, or moving about which in a live act is pretty basic stuff. He kept being distracted and losing his place and aways before the end of a joke.
Good but not outstanding!
Good support act too, although it all seemed to be over very quick and no encores!

I loved Simon Amstell on Buzzcocks, as I think most people did. This was my initial reason for buying tickets to the show, having no idea if he was any good at stand-up.
From the very beginning he drew you in and it was just so funny the whole way through. He interacted very well with the audience, picking on a few people who left to go to the toilet and this was absolutely hilarious.
Such a good night and I also managed to meet him at the end, such a nice guy!
Would definately go to see him again

I thought simon was really good and made me laugh a lot and i am a big fan of him as the host of buzzcocks so was really looking forward to seeing him!! however i did feel like you could tell he did not really want to be there and didn't really enjoy it, which brought down the whole enjoyment of the show.

Godawful, boring, not funny, more like being told a boring story. Cracked a smile at some parts. Terrible. Won't make this mistake again.

Seen Simon at Newcastle's Journal Theatre, over all I thought he was good & he made me giggle a bit. Not what I was expecting after watching him on the Channel 4 programme Never Mind the Buzzcocks (brilliant!), it was very personal and deep and he twisted his experences to create a comady show, potentialy very good ... but it was not as funny as I was expecting ... turned out to be more of a lecture and it felt like I was more of Simon's 'shrink'. He was a bit unprofessional as he kept getting the jokes/stories wrong and complaing about being tired. Over all he was funny and it was a good performance.

I have been to see both "the man of the moment" Michael McIntyre and Simon Amstell in the last week -in very different venues. Simon Amstell was so much better and funnier and his personality really comes across in the performance. He didn't seem to have fond views of Newcastle but I even forgave him that.

Simon Amstell was on his 5th gig in a row - by his own admission he didn't know where he was any more and he still entertained for the full duration of the show. His genuine and at times heartfelt delivery was nontheless confident without being brash. He has a style all his own. Although his sexuality formed part of the narrative at times, it was clear that it wasn't for effect - it was just who he is.
The saddest part was when I realised that out of the audience (that were mainly students) most of the men wanted to date him, the women convert him and my friend and I (at 40 years old) just wanted to take him home and mother him!!!!

What he did was funny, but the show was short at just an hour. Simon was tired - he told us enough times, but he should still perform to his best ability. Got the impression he was fed up and couldn't be bothered so stopped early. Had heard he could crucify the hecklers, but no evidence of this last night.

Simon made it quite clear from the outset that he was tired, uninspired by being in Newcastle and cold (enough to demand his cardigan!). His show produced a low, steady stiffled laughter from the audience but he failed to deliver anything really outrageously funny or amusing. As the guy behind us leaving the theatre said, " OK, but didn't really provide a good belly laugh." My husband and I both agreed and thought the 58 minute show was rather abrupt, over prepared, rather self indulgent and generally disapointing and we should know about below par performances . . . . having been season ticket holders at Newcastle for many years! My biggest criticism would be that he didn't really seem to care about the audience or the fact we had paid £20 for the 'privilege' of seeing him. He just wanted to get through it and get off stage.

I have seen Simon Amstell once before and he was superb then, with this show somehow he surpassed even that. To start with, Arnab Chandra eased you in with his easy natured geeky one liners, amusing enough for definite to hold a show of his own. Amstell is so witty and open, and hits the nail on the head with his bittersweet view on his own (and most peoples, no doubt) paranoid self-obsessed personality. More of a spellbinding narrative then side splittingly funny but personally I think that's far better.

Support act quite good. Simon Amstell disappointing, needs someone to play off and when this did not happen with the audience he rambled on. Was on for roughly one hour and in my view was not great value for money. He was funny in parts but these were very few and far between.

A part from being sorter than I expected Simon Amstell did not let me down. Simon wasn't a confident as I thought- even though he just about broke up a couple in the front row. He seems actully quite nervous ans shy.
I really enjoyed his support act also- wish i could remember his name. lol
Will deftinatly go see him again- Just hope its in Dundee next time! :D

Knowing Simon Amstell mainly from Pop World, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and appearing as a guest on many other tv shows, his intelligence shone through and his sheer wittyness and cheekyness atttracted me to him and his comical ability. Unfortunately this set of Simons was slightly shorter than average i felt, and not exactly full of side splitting laughs. The show was different by talking about mostly his inner feelings, thoughts & historical activities, which i quite liked (getting to kow him a bit more shall we say). A lot of younger age at this attendance was surprising. An overall average I say. He just has to sit down and conjur up something real good from the back of his working mind as most people can plainly see he is capable of doing.

We arrived at 8pm when the show was due to start, and waited for 10 mins until a warm up act came on. He was on stage for about 10-15 mins and then told us to go get drinks as there would be an interval (too soon I thought). The interval lasted about 20 minutes and Simon finally came on. He was on for less than an hour and didn't really do an encore - just answered a couple of questions about Buzzcocks.
He was quite funny for the short time he was on but for the £55 we paid I wasn't impressed.
