As we gently pushed our way to the front of the crowd, in eager anticipation, my friend and I did not pay much attention to the people standing around us. However, as The Rev and his colleagues proudly came onto the stage, we realised that we were two of only four girls, surrounded by a hoard of excited and eager men.. all much bigger and stronger than us and with a testosterone passion only previously seen on the terraces.
The band were superb and Rev whisked the crowd up into such an excited frenzy that we were carried from side to side with our feet barely touching the floor. However, despite this unexpected tidal wave, we were more than capable of holding our own and joining in with the shouts of delight and choral chants.
The Rev is a man of passion and presence. He towers over the audience with confidence and ease. The songs may seem like rants but when listening to the lyrics I am reminded of the delicacy of his words and the poetry of his thoughts.
This was a maginificent gig and I would see him again and again. This man makes my Southern Soul yearn to be Northern
