HSM was to my dismay disappointing, tickets bought for £50, my daughter (8 years old) and myself drove to Edinburgh excited about her birthday treat. However sound throughout the show was poor, we were in the stalls relatively near the front but couldnt desipher the majority of the script.
The actors were good in fairness and in particular Sharpay, however most of them looked closer to 30 than teenagers. I am sure my daughter didnt notice!
The films are watchable for adults and I can definately see why kids love them but the theatre production was poor, boring to use an unimaginative descriptor. At the very end of the production there was a big bang and streamers, I left feeling there should have been more of that to give it the kick up the derrier that it sorely needed.
i would not recommend this to others and particulary not the young audience the films are aimed at, there were children all around us struggling to maintain there interest hence behaviour, my daughter watched it and seemed to think it was good but her reaction was nothing like it was watching Beauty and the Beast, enough said.
Perhaps the die hard HSM fans will still fall for this production but not us.
