I am new to Amon Amarth, having seen them for the first time this year at Bloodstock Open Air. There they delivered each song with confidence, passion and technical skill and so it was that I became hooked.
Seeing them in Nottingham's Rescue Rooms was my second time but it could have only improved my opinion of them. The venue is perfectly intimate, though I was lucky enough to be high up on the balcony and therefore able to get a fantastic view of the band and the stage. I genuinely felt as though I was on stage with them. Maybe it was a good thing then that I wasn't on the floor, as the greatness of the music could have easily led me to.
I won't go into a critique of the actual tracks, but suffices to say that each and every single one of them was incredibly empowering, resistence to headbang being futile. From above, to further witness a number of mosh pits taking place was pure gold, because this is exactly what Amon Amarth inspire you to do, to live the music. This has to be one of the best gigs I have been to in years.
