As a student of English Literature, I have much experience of Shakespeare's written works, but had never actually seen any live performances of his greatest works. So it was with some trepidation that myself and two friends approached the Propeller group's performance of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at The Lowry.
Firstly, let me say that the whole evening was set off fantastically by this venue. The Lowry at Salford Quays is a real treat and we enjoyed a full day of mixed entertainment (shopping in the afternoon, dinner on the Quay, pre-theatre drinks and a nice stroll along the banks after the show). This was our first visit ... and we will be back again.
As to the show itself it was quite simply fantastic! The theatre is intimate, without being too cramped and the production was immaculate. I would definitely see another show with this group of thespians. Highly entertaining, funny and very professionally performed (even during a prop malfunction during the second act!). A fine evening of theatre!
