An unforgettable visual extraveganza.Huge Martian fighting machines on stage brought dramatically to life, dominating and totally intimidating the audience with light beams fired from it's glowing eyes. My senses were overloaded by surprise pyrotechnics and the incredible visual scenes on stage brought to life by a highly talented cast and group of musicians. The music was first class, so good to see such a large orchestra faithfully performing the original score along side the more contemporary rock section. The mixure of the two worked perfectly and complimented the visuals of HG Wells classic novel on the huge wrap around screen behind the performers. The Richard Burton hologram narrating the story was uncanny, gave me goose bumps to hear that great voice booming out again after so many years!

Did not get the chance to see WOTW live, as I was in hospital having rt leg amputated (cue Violins). But managed to get hold of a copy of the double DVD.
Do not think there are enough superlatives to describe this concert. Is it possible to wear out a DVD? ,Cos i,m doing my best. Better medication than the Morphine I am corrently on. One dose of WOTW to be taken twice a day! Luverly.
So, haven't seen it live, or bought the tee shirt, although I have read the book. Next goal I have set myself - to walk again without sticks and find the nearest venue the next time the Group go on tour.
I bought the album when it first came out,in 1978, and got thru 3 copies, still got the limited edition CD and as stated before, am trying to destroy the DVD due to overuse.

I had purchased the tickets for Jeff wayne's War of the Worlds, what seemed like an eternity ago, anticipation growing as the concert date neared.
We had made a day of it being in London at the 02 and as the time neared the excitement grew. We bought the official guide, cd, Tshirt and keyring. Finally the doors opened, we climbed the stairs, sat in our seats and waited.
Out came the band and orchestra, followed by the great man Jeff Wayne, the cheers were loud, the familiar music rose to the heights, but better, we were actually there.
The energy from the stage electric, feeling the music in our very being. Everyone there for the same reason Jeff Wayne, we were not disappointed.
It ended all to soon, we would do it again in a flash but closer to the stage. We were not disappointed.

The whole thing was such a disappointment ! So much more could have been done with the technology, and what they had went wrong ! Very out-dated.

An unforgettable experience. A long standing favourite for my Wife, Son and me. Fulfilled our expectations.
Our only criticism (not shared by our son aged 41) is that the volume was a little too high!

A thoroughly entertaining evening of classic storyline and music. Jeff Wayne obviously enjoying himself conducting classical musicians and a rock band featuring Chris Spedding on lead and Herbie Flowers on bass. The CGI "Richard Burton" had improved from the original performances with more animated facial expressions making it more realistic with a CGI animated and movie storyboard behind and stage props complete with Tripod and superb lighting effects made for an unforgettable evenings entertainment.

Very disappointed. The seats we had meant that we couldn't see much of the stage. A lot of the singers were completely out of tune. My friend and I walked out early.

From the first to last note it was amazing, the large screen the orchestra, band and performers were excelant , if you closed your eyes (not that you would want to) you could think you were listening to the CD it was brilliant. Well done Jeff Wayne.

I have always been a fan of the music and was unfortunate enough to miss getting tickets the first time it came to the O2. I was not going to miss it a second time! We both really enjoyed the show and hearing the fantastic music played by a live orchestra was brilliant. A really enjoyable performance for all age groups, and the tour book is a lovely souvenir.

Overall the evening was a novel and fairly entertaining one. But do not believe all the hype about the show. The 'bringing Richard Burton to life' tag doesn't hold true. The Burton face looked only vaguely like the man himself. It looked and acted more like a second rate muppet face, or something from spitting image. The singers too left something to be desired. They sang loudly AT the audience rather than singing the words with feeling. Overall I thought the special effects appeared to have been bought second hand from a 1980's market stall. However, the musicians were very good. Although Jeff Wayne came across as rather full of himself with an attitude of 'hey everybody look at me, i'm the fabulous Jeff Wayne'. Not helped by hte fact he kept on doing 'dad dancing' while conducting.
