Ok so first of all, it wasn't at the O2 ABC, it was down the road "The Garage". Oh no wait, it wasn't - it was in their tiny back room, the G2. Not what I expected for a huge hip-hop, TV and movie star. However this gave the gig an intimate "club" feel, which X to tha Z probably started off in, so it was all good. Other acts might have cancelled (I'm looking at YOU Rob Zombie...).
Then we had to wait two hours before the show even started - no support, just an average DJ playing a greatest hits of hip-hop and shouting stuff from a mic, way up loud. So me and my friends couldn't talk. Buying t-shirts (only 10 quid, bonus!) was an exercise in shouting spittle into the Merch. woman's ear and the bar ran out of tap beer halfway through the show! Whaaat?
They even had a wristband system which security forgot to implement until an hour into the night, so many people got into arguments at the bar.
X himself was awesome, did a great show, chatted with the crowd, played his hits and new stuff, got us shouting back and did a (paid for) VIP signing afterwards, so credit to him.
I don't know if G2 plans on having more nights like that, I had to travel from out of town so wouldn't go, but if you're a hip hop fan in Glasgow, I would say check it out.
