After seeing the televised version of The Gruffalo we were slightly disappointed that more hadn't been made of the stage version. The costumes left a little to be desired and their 'ironic' nature was more than likely totally lost on younger audience members. Some of the songs too weren't up to the usual West End standard. Having said all that however, our 2 1/2 year old daughter (along with the rest of the children in the audience) did seem to really enjoy it and was transfixed throughout, joining in with the familiar lines when they appeared. We would therefore recommend it but would warn people not to go expecting an identical reproduction of the book or film.

I took my 2 year old to this play - she is slightly below the recommended age range, but loves the book and the TV animation. She did not recognise the mouse character and although I tried to explain that the lady was pretending to be the mouse, she kept asking "Mummy, when is the other mouse coming?". She could not identify the fox, owl and snake and lost interest during the middle of the performance. However, when the Gruffalo turned up she recognised him and took interest again, enjoying the rest of the performance. The Gruffalo costume was good, and the songs in which the Gruffalo was involved were catchy and entertaining. However, I thought that the personalities given to the fox, owl and snake, and the lack of obvious animal costumes made it difficult for the little ones to identify and relate to them.

Its Ok but the costumes and set are basic. Music could be better...more of the songs. Does go off piste from the book and my son said in the middle 'Shall we go home now'. The snowman is a much better if looking for a childrens west end show.

The whole play may only be an hour long Amazing as the book is only about 20 pages. How ever it is Just long enough but not too long for those with very little ones in the audience. The energy from the 3 people on stage was wonderful. All 4 girls that I took loved it....I rather did too!!!

We weren't too sure what to expect. We knew and loved the story, but were blown away by the show. It was so simplistic it was fantastic, the three actors filled the roles and more, it left us discussing the best character all the way home, the boys loved the snake whilst I thought the fox was best.
Fantastic day was had by all. xx

My Daughter is only two and a half so I was a little worried she would be too young. She has been to a few shows already so I think this helped however I think the 3yr rating is good advice if your child has not been to shows. She really enjoyed it. I think she struggled a little with the animals as they were not obvious and this was really evident as when the Gruffalo came on she really liked him and related to it more. The show was an hour long which was great and Ithink it was really good value for money. The only complaint is my husband had promised her ice cream, but there wasn't any!!

Different but better than expected. My husband was sceptical about going but roared with laughter all the way through. My 4 year old found it entertaining and interactive. Congratulations to the cast who are obviously well practised at performing and dealing with heckling children! An enjoyable show for all.

took 3 and 5 year old the 5 year old throughly enjoyed it but the 3 year old got a bit fidgety
during parts and towards the end.The show lasted for one hour which i feel was prob about wright for both kids and adults. if you go i would reccomend seating in the stalls as the actors played to the stalls and didnt involve the circle (or look up) at all. apart from that a well performed show.

Took the whole family ranging from 22 months to 8 years who all thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The sing and dancing were excellent, the storytelling was wonderful.
The only reason I have not given it 5 stars is the costumes were a little lacking, the mouse in particular was a great actor but her costume was unimaginative and bland! But ending on a high note I would thoroughly recommend seeing it!

Brilliantly done. We knew the kids would enjoy it but were utterly surprised to find that adults could enjoy it too. We didn't need the kids!
The actors were so enthusiastic and utterly relaxed in their parts.

Having read the book a lot to our children we had very high expectations for this show - we where NOT disappointed. It was absolutely superb from start to finish. Our two children who are 3 and 5 where both laughing and singing along with the songs. Still 1 week on we are all singing' g-g-g-gruffalo!' Go, Go, Go you won't regret it.

We arrived at the theatre to find where we were sat was very poor! restricted view although no mention of this on the tickets or when purchased. The show was only about 45mins long with no interval. Three actors changing into costumes that were so poor they were unrecognisable to the kids. no scene changes and limited music! Very dissapointed.

I knew that there must be fair amount of padding to extend a 5 minute book to a 55 minute play. This was done with great energy by the 3 actors in the production with plenty of songs that our 3 year old enjoyed. However, I couldnt believe the lack of effort with the costumes. The "mouse" wore cargo pants and t shirt with a belt for a tail and two pink scrunchies in her hair to make ears. The "owl" "fox" and snake were equally poorly represented. The Gruffalo actually was a proper costume but still a little make up would have improved it. Overall this was disappointing show.
