Prego enter the stage as relative unknowns, to an unexpectant. still crowd, but are soon awoken with melodies reminiscent of Snow Patrol, but a crunching underbelly comparable to that of tonight's headliners. And what's more, lead singer Edd (Charlie Simpson's brother) is clearly as amazed by the reception as the crowd are of the enigmatic performance they are witnessing.
Young Guns have snowballed over the past year into a force to be reckoned with. Their display tonight is nothing short of incredible, tearing through crowd favourites such as In The Night. As well as the gathering of fans they had assembled before them, tonight they have surely doubled, tripled that number.
Saving Aimee possess a much different sound to Fightstar, and the crowd are partially stunned at first. But their 80s styled tracks soon get feet tapping, which evolves into a full blown rave, the crowd jumping and dancing whether they wanted to or not. Plus, we finally get a bit of Halloween spirit with bloodied costumes and pumpkins on stage.
Finally, Fightstar appear before one of their most excitable crowds to date, clad in sparkly masks and skeleton suits, delivering Tannhuaser Gate with such ferocity, and yet so much elegance, with Charlie and Alex on top form. Tonight the headliners delve right into their extensive song choice, executing the likes of Palahnuik's Laughter to the highest of standards and even a brotherly loving version of Until Then, seeing Charlie and Edd perform side-by-side with such conviction it would appear they're part of the same band. New single 'A City On Fire' gets the crowd pumped, before tearing the room apart with crowd favourite Deathcar, finalisisng a performance that the quartet should be proud of.
And with a re-release of Be Human already in the pipeline, Tonight is an encouraging sign of even higher things to come.
