When you make the decision to see Jimmy Carr, you can't expect it to be an evening of tame jolly japes and mild hilarity. If you do, then you really should have done some research before leaving the house.

When listening to Jimmy, you're funny bone is often immediately tickled and you laught.
Then, it's a couple of seconds before your brain kicks in, analyses the content and forces an embarassed gasp as you realise just how dark the content you're laughing at really is.

However, if you're able to deal with it and enjoy it for what it is, you will have a most enjoyable night on this slightly bizarre analysis of the psyche of the multi award winning host of 8 out of 10 cats.

Ann Widdecombe said in the express that "His idea of wit is a barrage of filth and the sort of humour most men grow out of in their teens". Well, I have news for you Ann, most of us are still tennagers inside (no matter what we tell you) and Jimmy's show allows you to release that adolescent for an hour or two.

Do be prepared to join in. There's opportunities to ask Jimmy questions and join in with the jokes. If there was anything that was slightly disappointing at the venue I attended, it was that the audience didn't really paticipate enough to get a bit of banter going. On the ocassions it did happen, however, Jimmy really seemed to thrive on it and was hilarious in his responses.

Well worth a visit.

This was an amazing event. The venue was really small and so made it really intimate. Jimmy was brilliant, so funny and very entertaining. He even came out at the end to sign autographs. Ten out of Ten!

We went to see Jimmy at Southport on Friday, excellent seating, interval - stampede to the bar and about 20 deep (didnt actually manage get a drink), but not to worry
Jimmy was fab very very funny, proper LOL night, so outrageously wrong but funny funny man - "a carnival of c***s"
Would def go again and again

From the warm-up act to the meet & greet at the end of the show the evening was brilliant. The jokes were very harsh but that shouldn't come as a surprise with Jimmy Carr - never one to hold back. The audience participation bit was the only let down, some of the audience thoughts and q's were bewildering to say the least, but JC tackled them as well as he could. A great night out at a great venue. Already looking forward to the next tour.

I had bought tickets to take my dad to see Jimmy Carr for his birthday, I was a little late booking, therefore we were seated quite near the back (which is my fault for booking so late). I did not know that Jimmy Carr was on in Southport, but is glad i booked and went to see him.

His show was brilliant, and i like the way in which he organised the show, as their was a part that was not scripted, and was getting the audience involved. I have never known another comedian to do that before, i understand that comedians speak to members of the audience, but not the way Jimmy had done, it was like he dedicated a part of the show just for the audience to ask any questions, and i think it was more for the hecklers in the audience, but it was a fab. The venue was really good too, it was just a nice comfortable size, if it was any bigger then i think the people who are sitting near the back would have trouble seeing the comedian.

I would deffinatley recomend the show to my friends, which most are already jealous

I was really grateful that he stayed behind to sign autographs for the public, which i cued and got his autograph, (also a kiss on the cheek too - whay hay).

Fantastic show Jimmy, keep it up, will be booking tickets to see him again in the near future.

Overall i was very happy and would deffinatley book to see him again.

Brilliant performance!!! never thought i would have enjoyed it as much as i did and meeting him after was great he made me laugh when he met me too sayin me and the boyfriend shud breed cos our kids would be gorgeous! best night so far of 2010!!! would definatly go again next year!! Jimmy seemed small & vulnerable on stage. His humour works best when he is put on the spot, but I don't think the audience gave him much to work with. Most of the "heckles" were unoriginal & Jimmy dispensed with these expertly & effortlessly. The one heckle worth mention recieved respect, open laughter & applause from Jimmy. He seemed to be going through the motions at this show, but he can only react to the material the audience gives him. Tonight, the audience gave him "come on Jimmy, make me laugh"

My brother and I had a great night out at the Southport Theatre. Jimmy Carr was very very funny and we had a great night out. The seats were brilliant and I would recommend this venue to anyone.

I laughed from start to finish and had jaw ache by the end of the show! Not only is he hilarious but very nice too meeting with his fans after the show to sign programmes. Thoroughly enjoyed my night and look forward to seeing him again.
