My son, almost 3 years of age loves The Gruffalo, we have the book and the DVD of the BBC animation which came out recently, he watches it most nights before bed. Needless to say, I snapped up the tickets to see the show with him.
We were both hit with utter disappointment within minutes of the show starting. The people dressed as the characters shared very little resemblance to them, so much so that my son kept asking where the mouse, fox, owl etc was and wondered who these people were. When the Gruffalo appeared, this terrified my son, his entrance was very loud and chaotic and several children around his age had to leave the show as they were hysterical.
A poor creation of a much loved childrens classic, and scaring the younger audience half to death is hardly appreciative.
Skip it and get the brilliant DVD instead.
