First time seeing Gang of Four, but exceeded my expectation and I was looking forward to it big time, especially after seeing them on Jools Holland. Really got going a few songs into the set. Good crowd atmosphere. Lead singer still has amazing energy moving from mic to mic and rolling around on the floor. Punk rock lives on! Only complaint was set could have been a bit longer, even if they had redone a couple of the songs in the encore. Sound was excellent and for this reason this still remains one of my all time favourite venues.

Ok so it wasnt the original line up and sure they looked abit grizzled but it is thirty years on so what are you gonna do?.
A lot of times the comeback show is about getting paid in middle age and fair dues if thats how you want to go out, but the Gang of four cant be accussed of such scallawag behaviour.
They did the business and had the crowd in with them
a good smatter of material both known and not so known pepperred in alongside old favorites

After a lack-lustre support act and with no-one on stage by 9:10 the audience was getting restless. Within 3 notes of Andy Gill coming on all was forgotten. They held the audience by the throat for an hour and a half without let up, working through the whole of Entertainment, plus several other old faves such as We Live As We Dream and To Hell With Poverty, and several tracks I take to be new material. At least I didn't recognise them.
At one point they seemed to have left the stage early, only for the silence to be broken by the opening feedback of "Love Like Anthrax"
The female vocals required by some tracks most notably "I Love a Man in a Uniform" were supplied by no lesser a personage than Eddie Reader.
By the time they finished off with "I Found That Essence Rare" half the audience were singing along every word (not just the choruses).
Possibly one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

Once I'd got over watching a middle aged bloke charging around the stage looking quickly out of breath, Gang of Four firmly found the groove and turned out some tremendous sounds and a mightly number of cracking songs. With Eddie Reader supporting the already very good vocals, Go4 showed the youngsters in the audience just who has been influencing so many new bands, while the oldies amongst us reflected that it was astonishing this band did not get a lot more credit than they did at the time. Smashing stuff.

i must give them some credit for their marketing campaign! they didn't even play the whole entertainment album, and their new songs are awful. They've missed that old sound that made them what they once were. And the guy fixing their microphones all the time, very rock and roll!

Ok, so the audience comprised mainly men of a certain age, but anyone who wasn't there missed out. It was phenomenal. I'm one of the few who wasn't a man of a certain age :-)

Go see this band if you get the chance! Crowd a bit flat to start off, which is unusual for a Glasgow gig, but they soon warmed up.
