My wife took our young son to the pictures 5 times to see this film, when it was released in the early 90's, and as the show opened, with animals marching down the aisles and "The Circle of Life" in full flow, I could see her flashback to those times.
This show is visually stunning, with some incredibly complex costumes, and elaborate set changes. Some of the songs you'll recognise from the film, but there are others added to aid the story. I thought the vocals were excellent and there are performances to make everyone smile. Go and see it - even without the kids!!

I took my granddaughter who is nine years old, neither of us knew what to expect, the opening scene was totally amazing and it was suprise suprise after that. The costume, make up, acting was brilliant, the music, of course Elton John being my hero was truly magical. The whole show from beginning to end kept us enthralled, and although my grandaughter had seen the film and read the book many years ago, she still managed to follow the storyline. I would recommend it to all ages with the exception of the very young who will of course get impatient and restless as one did in front of us, I would say he was around three years old, however, there were quite a lot of children as it was a matinee perfomance but they were all so intrigued with the event that you didn't realise they were there.
Brilliant day, went to Covent Garden first and then back again after the show, would definetely recommend it.

The Lion King was absolutely outstanding. I could not fault it. I loved the Lion King as a kid, and this was a fantastic live show of the animation. The performers put all their efforts and energy into singing, dancing and acting. The costume was perfect. I highly recommend this show for all ages, best show I have ever seen :)

I was not sure the show would be 'my thing', but from the moment we waited outside for the doors to open there was an air of expectation from those aorund us. The first scene was spectacular, and I thought it could not keep this up throught the rest of the show, but it did! The audience was buzzing and stayed with it to the end. Each scene had something special in it from the Elephant's entrance, followed by the humour of the hyena's, to the aerial ballet near the end. The appeal of the animals went beyond a childish delight in the natural world and appealed to our sense of connectedness with creation and challenged us to respond to its care. I loved it, just right for a birthday treat!

Brilliant stuff, I love going to the theatre and have been trying to see this show for about 2 years, and after the long wait and high praise from friends it didn't disappoint. Full of colour and emotion, fantastic singing, dancing with a touch of comedy thrown in aswell. It was great to see how the iconic scenes from the Disney film were recreated on stage.
A definate must see for adults and children alike, I went with my girlfriend (it was her first time at the theatre) and she loved it aswell. May indeed be going back to watch it again.

Lion king is an unmissable experience. It has everything from music to colour to dance to a cracking story. My friends sat throughout the performance with mouths open completely awestruck and I would challenge anyone else not to feel like this.

What a wonderful spectacular - vastly enjoyed across all our age groups from Grandparents to Grandchildren. The settings and the costumes were breathtaking, and the special effects were amazing. A big commendation to the costume and set designer - I am sure she got many awards for the novelty of design particularly of the animal costumes with the additional touches to these which made them so recognisable and effective - pantomime horses eat your hearts out!! A wonderful, magical afternoon - may we come again please.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this musical! The choreography, the set, the singing and the whole atmosphere was just superb. Truly magical. I was at the edge of my seat the whole way through, eager to hear more and more. I thought the costumes were imaginative and the performers were fantastic.
