The support act were as previously stated a disaster, don't know who they were and don't want to see them again. when Gotan finally got sorted out on stage ir was as great as i expected!!!
A mor accurate idea of timing etc would be ideal in future though

Venue- Woderful Art Deco ex cinema beautifully refurbished. Ample room for standing in the "stalls" area and plenty of seating, but our seats were right up in the gods- restricted access and almost too far to emotionally connect with the music. Additional "table seating" was available and these are much better so be careful where you sit.
Gotan project- fabulous music and musicianship- a real treat to hear and for once, though they did play quite a lot of stuff from their new album the music was instantly likable and catchy. A real treat and a pleasure.

Gotan Project was excellent but the opening group was a disaster. Sorry for them because they look like nice folks
Room leg is a problem at Troxy. I will have to increase my yoga workout for the next gig.
No information about detailed time schedule of the evening. Tickets just show "doors open at 19.00" (which was wrong and misleading)
Long waiting time + terrible opening group = lot of time wasted

I saw Gotan Project at Bristol Colston Hall in May and jumped at the chance to see them again at the Troxy. Sadly, I was disappointed. This started with getting into the venue. The ticket said "Doors Open 7.00". When we arrived at 7.30 the doors had only just opened and there was a long queue outside. We finally got into the Troxy after queueing in the dark for an hour and a quarter. It was a fairly chilly evening, luckily it wasn't raining or there would have been a lot of very wet people. Troxy really need to sort this out.
Caught the last two or three numbers from the support act, who (from what I saw) weren't a very suitable choice.
After quite a bit of faffing about, Gotan finally took to the stage at 9.25. Playing a mixture of old and newish tracks (Tango 3.0 is six months old now), including a couple of tracks I didn't know. I thought the venue lacked atmosphere, perhaps because there was a lot of space left in the standing area.
We had to leave at 10.30, to get back accross London to get the last train home, so only caught the first hour of Gotan's set.
By contrast, at Bristol Gotan did not have a support act, came on stage at 8.30 and played for 2 hours, ending at 10.30. There was no queue to get into that venue.
I would happily see Gotan again, but wouldn't go back to the Troxy in a hurry.

Ok so we had to queue outside in the cold and it seemed like a while and I remember thinking, I really hope this is worth it ... I would happily do it again in a heartbeat. The support were on when we got in and they were just great, no idea who they were, but I really would like to know. 3 piece, French band with tribal animal masks, really upbeat and quirky. They marched and sang and chatted with the crowd.
Then the Gotan. Well my friend (who I dragged along, even though she'd never heard of them) was dancing and smiling by the second half of the first song when the beat kicked in. They are just so fantastic live, you really need to see them to understand how brilliant they are. They are really classy, funky, sexy and you cannot stay still. We tried to sneak out towards the end (only to get the train quickly as it was late) but when we got to the back of the room there were couples tango-ing everywhere and the vibe was even better at the back! So we didn't leave we just carried on dancing. The venue was just great, clean spacious no major queues and nice loos.
All in all I went home feeling very satisfied and ever so slightly smug that I'd just been to one of the best gig's of the year.

Very happy that I finally got to see them. The music is the well-known Gotan-tanGo sound, but the visuals were amazing. Really nice to hear this sound live. Well worth it.

Queues were very long and it took ages to get in, they didn't have any cider at Troxy so the venue scores quite low. Gotan was brilliant though and they have once again delivered a top performance

They were amazing, by far the bestlive act i have seen in a longtime. I was left with shivers, the lead vocalist was outstanding and a very talented singer and performer. I would see them again.

The concert was listed for 7pm but despite arriving early it didn't start until after 9 pm. I've seen the Gotanproject several times and they gave a very goopd concert with deserved encores. I particularly liked their new addition in the form of an accomplished young lady from Buenos Aires who played both the trumpet and the violin. She added her valuable talent to a first-rate group of musicans. My date hadn't seen the Gotan Project perform and was very impressed with their creative repertoire and unique sounds. I look forward to their next concert.

Really fun night out, the setting of the Brixton academy as an old theatre really complimented the band's tango style I thought...a great mix with the traditional instruments they used, then turned slightly house/electronica when the djs started spinning their stuff. Loved the 3d graphics and videos to accompany the songs, and the lights used were awesome, worth going just for that! Show dragged a little in the middle when some of the more housey numbers came on, without the lead singer it lacked a bit of direction, but when she returned to the stage they came back with a bang - great evening out... I love "Mi confesion" even more now!!!

fantastic musicians, nice visuals, but an underwhelming atmosphere.
It seems the Gotan Project, like to keep you waiting and wanting more.
Maybe I was expecting too much, as triptico is such great tune.
