I took my partner to see this game as an early birthday present, i don't know much about football but what i previously knew was that i was not a Manchester United fan.
After a long drive up from London and getting stuck on the M6 for what felt like ages, i thought we wouldn't make it. So when we finally got to the stadium i was relived, the Stadium itself is outstanding and the amount of people there also.
There was a long queue of people hoping to get tickets, it was rather disheartening when the announcement said they had sold out. I was happy i'd got mine online though.
After wondering around like a headless chicken and taking pictures every other second i finally found the east stand and we made our way up the stairs to our seats. It's breathtaking just how many seats there are, (half way through the match they announced that just under 74,500 people had attended.)
Not knowing much about football this review is probably rather pointless. However this is my view, the first half was rather uneventful. There were a lot of good chances for goals that were missed by Michael Owen, i think a lot of people turned up to see him play that night and left disappointed. He was eventually subbed in the second half along with Rooney.
Rooney is loved by the crowd, every other chant was directed at him. It must be an amazing feeling having 74,000 people cheer your name. The Crowd in my eyes were amazing, they were so supportive they would applaud the player after missed opportunities even though you could feel the frustration in the air.
The second half was more exciting seeing two goals scored by Wayne Rooney and then sub Tom Cleverley, there was almost a third goal but i think it hit the cross bar. (I was taking pictures at the time)
Before i knew it the game had ended, when you're at the stadium it seems to go so quickly however when i'm stuck watching it at home it seems to go on forever.
The Match and the experience exceeded my expectations as i was setting myself up to hate it. I actually left the stadium wanting to go back. It won't be too long until i take my partner to see another match (if i can get my hands on some tickets) and you never know text time i go i might be wearing a Man U shirt.
Time will only tell.
(As long as Ronaldo doesn't come back)
