Five highly talented musicians enter a stage with their instruments and start playing and singing some of the sweetest sounding country-folk-bluegrass you'll ever hear. No flashy lights, no effects, no need for them. A pure and simple performance.
They played a great assortment from the new album, including title track Paper Airplane, and combined with them with many classics like Let Me Touch You For A While, The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn and Daylight. They chatted to the audience and had clearly been enjoying sightseeing around Manchester despite the rain. Special guest Jerry Douglas played the entire gig with the band, but got his own 10 minutes too, to show off his skills on the Dembro guitar.
The highlights for me though were the tracks from the movie 'O Brother Where Art Thou?'. The haunting 'Down To The River' sung by Alison, and 'Man of Constant Sorrow' sung by Dan 'singing voice of George Clooney' Tyminski.
A great gig. Highly recommended.
