As soon as they hit the stage with 'Gypsy Woman' I had tears in my eyes. The Impressions delivered a catalogue of great songs that sound as good today as they did in the 1960s/early 70s
You'd think that filing Curtis Mayfield's shoes was impossible, but Reggie Torian did a great job, paying homage but adding his own twist. He worked hand in glove with the two veterans from the classic line up, Sam and Fred.
Both must now be in their 70s - but they sang like angels and danced all the classic soul steps. I never realised till Saturday night just how central a role Sam and Fred role played; their harmonies made the Impressions unique sound.
And the Curtom Orchestra - all from a younger generation - played the tunes like they grew up with them. Special mention also to the uncredited UK singer who warmed the crowd up with a Curtis medley - his voice was wicked and he deserves a show of his own.
In summary, beautiful - can't wait for the new recordings with DapKing's Binky
