Words like legend are thrown around too easily but it is the first word that comes to mind when thinking back to Solomon Burke's performance at the Jazz Cafe on Sunday the 25th July 2010.
Mr Burke was simply breathtaking from his arrival through the crowd in a wheel chair to his last song on the throne stage. His voice was dynamic and rich and his voice rich - His band were faultless and his beautiful daughter and grandaughter sang exquisitely.
I had the feeling that if Otis Redding, Wilsion Pickett and Arthur Connelly had still been with us they would have been in that crowd applauding wildly at the end of the show.
Soloman Burke like Gill Scot Heron who I saw recently at Somerset House, is a true legend and he is one that we still have with us - the more people who see his shows the better place the world will be.
As he said himself - 'Loving people is what I do'
...... and as a result of that Soloman, the peole love you right back .....
