The ballerinas were enchanting and had obviously worked hard. I particularly enjoyed the mime.
The orchestra was to a good standard apart from a bored fourth french horn player who deemed it appropriate to continuously read a book after the interval. He couldn't pack his instrument away and disappear fast enough once the applause began at the end! Other musicians should perhaps also watch their body language when not gainfully employed...
The 'Men y Men' display at the start of the performance was missing basic timing, not to mention any connection to the main ballet. What was the point? The programme guide stated that it was inserted to give the hitherto under employed men something to concentrate on during rehearsals as the performance sees the ballerinas playing a more major part than the guys. Rubbish.
I look forward to watching a more professional performance in Swan Lake next month in London. I must double check who's performing it to save a potentially wasted trip...
