Hammersmith was packed and the evening opened up with Sandi Thom who was great - had a fantastic voice. Then Joe came on at 8.30pm - playing over 2 hours - non stop brilliance.
He belted out song after song - he has to be one of the best guitarists if not the best around at the moment - absolutely amazing. From rock to blues to classical - this man has everything.
He was joined for a couple of songs by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull fame and they rocked the stage.
Didn't want it to end - stunning night!

I've been to see Joe a number of times now and the man just gets better and better , however , i will now be very choosey as to where i see him next . His shows have always been attended by the more civilized , mature blues type fan , but now things seem to have changed somewhat . For the first time i found myself surrounded by heckling , heavy metal saluting fans who appear to be a lot younger that really belong at a Metalica or Iron Maiden gig . In my opinion Joe Bonamassa needs to be listened to , watched and respected in the same way as people like Motzart , Pavarotti or even David Gilmour . The genius of Bonamassa seemed to go clean over these new arrivals head anyway . Trying to get in and out of The Apollo was a joke . I went to the same place to see the same guy about 18 months ago and there was none of that rubbish , we were treated like football hooligans , though you could empty Old Trafford of 78,000 people quicker than we got out of there . Hammersmith Apollo were simply cashing in on Joes popularity by removing the seating so they could cram twice as many people inside . I hate to think how they would get people out in an emergency . The man was brilliant as always but I felt let down by the venue .........

not sure if my review went through so this is a repeat which actually proves how unhappy i was with the concert.
i was really looking forward to this gig as i had missed him twice before. unfortunatly i think this was for the money. pack em rack em and stack em.
could, nt see Joe all that well heard him sounded good, cannot fault the guys playing.
no audiance participation came on played, finally after being pushed barged and having some guy grinding into me ...not a happy situation, nearly thumped him. he took the the hint and moved away. i lefted.
i do like the hammersmith but wont go again if seats are taken out.
you can still stand with them in if you want to go for a pee theres no probs about getting back to your position and enjoy the concert. finally got so fed up may as well stayed at home and listen to a cd. so left after an hour

Joe's music to begin with was brilliant ..I was so disappointed at the level of the sound, toooooo much heavy bass,couldn't hear words of songs,venue perhaps not the best for him ..larger arena would have been better.
Sound vibrated uncomfortably through my chest and head sound funnelled to back of theatre
Comedy sessions are okay but music for me a no no.

Hugely accomplished performance by a guitar virtuoso. He hero worships Clapton but gives far far more in his performances in my experience. Lost count of the number of guitars he used but there seemed to be a good reason by the different sound each time.
If you like guitar especially electric Joe has got it.

Seen this great guy twice and can't wait to see him again he never ceases to amaze me with his wonderful guitar playing talents and lets not forget his wonderful band.apollo theatre was an ok venue but don't think I would go back there .a very organised concert ty to all involved.

Third time we've seen him at Hammersmith, and once again great rock blues with power and feeling. Leaning to the rock side more this time, and we would have happier with another couple of the more bluesy tracks from the new album. With so much material to choose from, there is no way he could please everyone though. If you haven't seen him yet, you are missing out big time - one of the rock guitar greats!

Great opening with an acoustic set showing off Bonamassa's guitar playing prowess.
Then moved into the full band but sound mix was inconsistent with JBs guitar too dominant.
Weirdly the house lights were left for most of the performance and this did not help build an atmosphere.
Most people's favourites were played and the band was as tight as ever, helped by the extra percussion player and the new keyboardist (when you could hear him). There was also an additional singer on backup vocals. He was given one number to sing on his own but this did not work too well with spotlight still on JB.
Sloe Gin was reserved for the first encore number and JB was notably restrained with his solo work almost purposely not using his trademark machine gun runs.
He played my favourite track "Lonesome Road" which Ive not seen live before which made my evening.
Overall everyone appeared to go home happy having heard perhaps the #1 current guitarist do his stuff. Just have that nagging doubt that there is more to come

However, I could just listen to him play an open E chord on his Les Paul for an entire evening. It is to die for.

A good set including all the favourites lasting about 2 hours.
Sound level just about right - I've seen Bonamasa before and walked outside with my ears ringing.
All standing downstairs - previously when I've been at the Apollo/Odeon there's been seats in the stalls. OK for me at 6ft but my wife could see very little.
This venue is looking tired and must be due a refurbishment at some point.

Joe was awesome. The programme was varied from acoustic to blues to rock, something for all guitar music fans. His rapport with the audience was good- they seemed to be knowledgable on this music genre, and appreciated Joe's fantastic ability to deliver a high quality sound with superb technique.
He had an outstanding band with him, who made the evening an event of high quality entertainment, which complemented Joe's phenomenal guitar skills.

Night 3 o the quartet of London Bonamassa Gigs #1 being Borderline #2 Shepherds Bush Empire and #4 being RAH. This was Rock night ! and Rock we did .
Superb Acoustic start to the set ( all from the Live at Vienna opera House CD) and then into the session full on. Joes trio supplemanted by a Ketboard / Hammond Organ player and percussionist plus guest vocalist.
Solid set with some great moments and a superb encore.
Hammersmith awas average at best as a venue .Sound was great . but the Vennue downstairs ( Open Mosh pit ) was dreadful - probably over sold it was rammed and lots of latecomers seemed hel bent on shoving and pushing to the front .. where there was no room !! Sad really !! So a very uncomfortable crowd environment ... I won't stand up down there again !!

Also the crowedseemed to be kept out of the venue till the last moment - massive long queues to get in .......even at 1945 .with Joe due on at 2000.

Brighton may not be seen as the capital of Blues/Rock but for one evening it certainly was.
Having seen Joe on a couple of occasions now he never ceases to amaze me at how hard he works, how technically brilliant he is (to my ears) and just how anyone who sees him for the first time is immediately converted to the cause.
The Brighton Centre is, in modern day terms, an intimate arena where you are never that far away from the stage. This, along with the music selection and performance just helped to make it another great evening.
There was even a 'freudian' slip when he thanked everyone for coming out tonight!
Great stuff can't wait for the next one!

What a performance! On the opening night of the Montreaux Jazz Festival he played a total accoustic set with his band, and this was some of the finest guitar playing that I have ever heard. Although the act lasted about 1hr 20m, it was totally enthralling.
