I have been a fan of the music from Tick Tick Boom for a while and was thrilled to catch it when it had a short run in London. I was even more excited to discover the wonderful Julie Atherton was playing the female role because she's a fantastic performer and she certainly delivered in the production. The two male roles were also superb and played faultless performances. The story is autobiographical written by Jonathan Larson based on the events of his own life and struggles to become a successful composer in the 90's in New York. The music, set and lighting were brilliant, and it was all put together, from my knowledge, in a short space of time, whilst also putting on a production of the Last Five Years, also starring Julie Atherton in the female role. The music is amazing, obviously being composed by Jonathan Larson, it has a very similar feel to Rent and also I can find similarities between it and The Wedding Singer. Overall this production was successful in every way and was lovely to watch in such a lovely intimate theatre. I would welcome a come back any day.
