Wire continue to operate somewhere above where the mainstream set the bar. They rank along side Kraftwerk, Roxy Music and Devo in their originality and persistence in ploughing their own musical furrow. Wire and have done so for well over thirty years, and throughout this time have ceaselessly produced fresh, yet unmistakable music, adding to their awesome musicography. They sound as modern today as they did in the 70s' with their playful yet edgy tunes and gritty slightly odd sounding guitars.
Wire are the band who sang: "Money spine, paper lung, kidney bingos, organ fun" What more can be said?

Favourite moment: When they played Map Reference. I became seventeen again! @
Opening act(s): Just two girls, one on drums and vocals the other on guitar and vocals. The sort of stuff John Peel used to give air time to because nobody else would: 6 odd minute songs of a heavy mesmeric quality, and very full sounding given their minimalist lineup. A well chosen opener for a WIre gig. @
