Well this event was on Friday the 13th of november so some may say it was heading for disaster!!!! All was going well, the first band began singing, into their second song the fire alarms started going off...... next comes a rapid retreat for all gig goers outside of the Guildhall. After a while we were allowed back in. The first band had to be cut short, which was a shame. Flaming Lips came on, and soon any disappointment about the support was forgotten with Wayne doing his, "ball walking", over the audience. Things got better and better as the gig went on. fantastic music and sensory excitement, flashing lights, confetti, ballons and visual effects that only the Flaming Lips seem to make so exciting..... Unfortunately as the gig was coming to a crescendo of sensory feelings .... Friday the thirteenth struck again as two people started having epileptic fits in the audience. Everything had to stop, but full marks to the band for treating the incident with decorum and keeping everyone informed about what was goin g on. Eventually Flaming Lips did come back on stage and tried their hardest to lift the crowds up. They succeeded to a certain extent though it was never going to be possible to recapture the lost moment. I would alway encourage people to go to see flaming Lips but maybe warn them to think about their personal sesitivity to lights..... To end, Flaming Lips are fantastic, they do not come here often enough, I will always go to see them when possible.
