20 years since they last played in Scotland at The Barrowlands on the "Stain" tour Living Colour played the first show of their Vivid 25th Anniversary tour in Glasgow.
Opening with 2 cover songs, Robert Johnson's - "Preachin' Blues" (supposedly going to be on their next CD) then Jimi Hendrix - "Power Of Soul" then we were into Vivid, the full album from front to back 11 songs in total before a one song encore of "Love Rears It's Ugly Head"
The band were in superb form and I am not sure who was having the most fun, the crowd who were lapping it up, or the band who seemed to be feeding off the crowd and had lots of smiles to show for it.
A pity we didn't get more songs as I believe there were another 4 songs on the setlist which due to a mixture of late soundcheck & curfew meant they didn't get played. These were "Bi" "Ignorance Is Bliss" "Leave It Alone" & appropriately "Time's Up" as it was indeed.
I do hope they come back to Scotland soon and don't leave it too long as I for one will be there.

Living Colour are one of the best live bands in the world. I see them every time they come to the UK, and so should you. Vivid in full, who can argue? Early curfew on the night helped us too!

Normally never write reviews so that fact alone tells a story of how much impact this band had live.
Living Colour, somewhat underrated when Vivid was originally released, have hit the road to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their début album and what a celebration it was. Their thoughtful lyrics and range of musical styles make them a must see for any music fan and they were clearly have a great time performing. Rather uniquely they opted to play the album in track order which I have never seen a band do live! As for their playing it was easily one of the best live performances I have seen for years - Corey's voice in particular has lost none of its power and edge and Vernon, Doug and Wil were all a joy to watch. Vernon Reid's guitar fusion of different styles was a masterclass to behold...
Sadly at this event a curfew by the Garage meant little in the way of encores, which would undoubtedly have featured more tracks from their Stain album (also hitting 20years old just over a week prior), but did have a superb 'Love rears...' from the Time's Up record.
Not to be missed and will personally be looking forward to them returning to Glasgow in the near future.

First time i have seen Living Colour live, and they certainly didnt disappoint!
Also being a few feet away from the front added to the experience.
Brilliant performance from a very underated band...come back soon!

Living Colour haven't played here for ages but they were well worth the wait. They were fantastic, loud, fast and rocking. The time off meant they were full of life and sounded amazing. It was a great venue for their comeback, perfect in size and I could see!!!!

Playing 'Vivid' in its entirety for the album's 25th anniversary, together with 'Preacher Blues', 'Love Rears Its Ugly Head', 'Time's Up', 'Leave It Alone' and covers of 'Sailin' On' and Amazing Grace, Living Colour were in brilliant form. The band's enthusiasm and humour was infectious and was lapped up by the crowd. The singalongs for 'Cult Of Personality' and 'Open Letter (To A Landlord)' and some of the most friendly moshing (if that's possible... ) I've ever experienced were great but it's the quality of the SONGS and virtuoso performances from all four band members that were the real highlight.
Here's hoping they don't leave it anywhere near as long before returning to London again. A very happy Living Colour fan :)

One of the best gigs I have ever had the privelidge to witness, Corey's vocals were incredible the showmanship and musicality added to the experience.Looking forward to the next time.The intimate venue and crowd participation are worth a mention as well.

It was!! What a great band. I last saw them 18 years ago. Totally professional. Corey's vocals and Vernon's guitar were so incredibly good that you forget how good a drummer Will is and how good a bass player Doug is. Tight, technically good stuff played by passionate musicians. They played 'Vivid" in its entirity and in order. Makes me want to go to see them in NYC in April. Hope to see them again soon- maybe they'll do 'Time's up" in a few years.

I was a bit concerned if LC still had what it takes to put on a great show after years of not seeing them but after hearing Vernon Reid start that riff to Cult of Personality my concerns quickly disappeared. From Vernons great guitar playing to Will's thunderous drumming and Doug's funky bass they made sure the songs sounded just as good live as they do on cd and Corey can still belt out those high notes too. Great live band great gig.
