Jeff Dunham arrived in London with his array of bizzare puppets and gave us not only what was expected from the Controlled Chaos DVD but more. He showcased some new stuff from a new Halloween DVD he is doing.
He opened up with cranky retiree Walter who said the best thing about the UK was that it "Wasnt France". Next up was Redneck Bubba J. who told us tales of drinking beer and watching Nascar.
As good as those two are, the second half of the show was what i think most people wanted. The worlds most beloved dead Terrorist, Achmed, with his catchphase that swept the globe and made Durham an internet phenonamon,(Silence.... I Kill you) opened the second half. You cant help but love the hapless Achmed who tries to scare and intimidate Jeff and the crowd but with comical consequences.
Finally the hypeactive Peanut comes on. A more broad, slapstick type of humour with the purple, one shoed (what is he???) here, but because we know the character it works. This section also features an appearence by Jose, the Halipino (On a Steeeek)
The show is littered with un PC jokes, references to Jeffs divorce and new (younger) girlfriend.
In some cases ventrilaquists can cut a sad and lonely figure, but Dunham has proved that its far from dead and his characters have lots of life in them yet. Even the dead one.
