Having seen Les Miserables over twenty years ago, I knew this was an experience I did not want my children to miss. As I felt all those years ago it is probably the quickest three hours you will ever spend, the show is spellbinding from beginning to end.
It is a slick, professional, faultless presentation in every way. It is rare you come out of a musical not being able to pick out a single weak voice, performance or a part that you didn't feel was as strong. The scenery, set changes and the gerenal movement around the stage of the cast was both clever and immaginative. The audience was mesmerised throughout and it was amazing to be part of the standing ovation that met the cast at the end. Not a single person was left seated in a packed theatre, which, for a Monday night shows Les Mis is here to stay.
My children aged 21 and 16 loved every minute of it and seeing the joy on there faces made it all the more special for me the second time around. My daughter imagined what could have been had she been succeessful in getting the part of the young Cossett when auditioning a few years ago.
A word of warning do go perpared with tissues in hand as this is both a very moving and exciting story.
To end, a thank you to Ticketmaster from whom I bought my tickets at half price a week before the performance. This enabled me to have third row of the stalls seats which even at full price would have been worth every penny.
