Possibly the best gig of my life. Small venue compared to last time I saw them (Underworld as opposed to the Electric Ballroom), good set list (lots of 'Something To Write Home About' with a few oldies and new stuff thrown in), front row, met Matt and Jim afterwards and they were really nice guys. Only negative was the way the band members got pissed off with one another at times and made digs at eachother. The atmosphere was maybe a bit better last year, due to both the band and crowd being more excited, but it was great to see them in a smaller venue.

Over a decade since their first release, and they haven't lost any of the energy that they had back then! This was my fourth time seeing them live over the last ten years. Worth seeing every time! So glad they're back together, recording and playing gigs again!

After so long waiting to see these guys,I must say it was well worth it!! The band had such energy and obviously enjoyed playing to a crowd that received them so well. The Get ups seemed to enjoy the set as much as the audience and it showed.They pulled out all the old favourites from four minute mile did a very atmospheric "walking on a wire" and closed with the gorgeous I'll catch you from the amazing album something to write home about.Hope to see more from these fellas real soon!!

The Get Up Kids may not be the kids they once were, but after last night's gig in Manchester's Academy 2 they proved they have still got it where it counts.

An excellent set encompassed all the usual fan favourites such as 10 Minutes, Red Letter Day, Mass Pike, and culminating in the epic I'll Catch You (Which left barely a dry eye in the house and had the happy couples in the audience locked in embrace) it was impossible for a true fan to be dissapointed by the setlist. And it seemed that almost all the crowd were true fans as on more than occasion the band were all but drowned out by the voices of the crowd.

Throw in a few suprise gems like Beer For Breakfast and Cure cover Close To Me and you have a pretty perfect return to form for the aging emo band. Here's hoping they come back with and equally perfect new album in the future despite Matt Pryor's relucance to comment on any such endevours.
