Having been a Modest Mouse fan for rather a long time and hearing great things about their lively shows; I was led to expect a lot from this gig. However, I was extremely disappointed Not only was there a wait of the best part an hour and a half following the support but when they eventually ambled onto stage the sound quality was far below par. It was almost impossible to make out a single word of lyrics from the jet-lagged Isaac Brock. It was bizarre to see how he simultaneously roared into the badly set up mic yet somehow managing to appear lifeless. Even the brilliant hit song "Dashboard" fell short of expectations as the crowd's initial enthusiasm seemed to waver. As the set continued the atmosphere became increasingly subdued except in the pockets of lively hard-core fans. Despite all their shortcomings in this gig they still impressed with their redemption of "The Whale Song" and just about earned their encore.

Pretty much what the title suggests: it was cranked up too loud, so none of the instruments or vocals were legible. Also, it was a very short set, leaving me to believe they just wanted 'in and out' without giving the fans value for money. Having said all that, they played some great tunes, the highlights of which included the Whale Song and King Rat.
