Not deterred by having to play an almost empty Jazz Cafe Popa Chubby performed a blistering set. Shame that nobody knows about him in this country. He usually plays to sell out crowds in other parts of Europe. The man is a treasure..

All I can say is that it is a shame that Popa Chubby only played one London date on this European tour because only a small group of lucky music lovers were priveledged to this joyous evening of wailing guitar and rasping vocals....Hallelujah, Little Wing and Ace of Spades were three covers which rocked the Jazz Cafe....interspersed with Popa's own music including tracks from his new album - his own unique style of New York blues.
The Sunday night club were in raptures. It was a wonderful experience!

This was my second or third time seeing Mr. C and, as usual, myself (and the audience too, it would seem) and my friends weren't dissappointed. He played much from his new record which was great. His performance isuplifting, guitar playing soars, and his voice is soulful. Between song banter was amusing and entertaining.I recommend this artist highly if you like rockin' blues with a hint of jazz and hip-hop thrown in for colour.
High praise for the support act, The Accelerators who were inspiring as well especially for such young musicians.

It's a long way from New York to Camden and every step of the way was worth it. Papa Chubby's flawless licks and beautifully thrown away vocals caress a mixture of material built on the stainless steel bones of hard scrabble rock and roll. Chubby melds Z.Z. Top, Hendrix, Robin Trower and Lenard Cohen into a creamy and seemingly effortless blues tour de force.
