I have seen Morrissey and The Smiths countless times, but every gig brings on new excitement. I love the man and going to see him live is pure pleasure!
I have only ever seen him in Manchester, so this was quite a new adventure...going as far as Liverpool!
When Morrissey came on stage, he seemed totally up for the gig...which was pleasing considering his recent ill health. I was on my feet, dancing through This Charming Man and Black Cloud...when the gig came to a halt. Some idiot had seen fit to throw what seemed like a bottle which hit Morrissey on the head, and the contents went all over him. Morrissey said 'goodbye' and left the stage. After around 15-20 mins, it was announced that he was not returning to do the show. I was totally gutted, but at the same time, really didn't expect Morrissey to return and nor did i blame him. This could have been a really good gig, but some senseless yob ruined it for the thousands of disappointed genuine fans.
If Morrissey ever decides to return to the UK to do any live shows, i will stick to my hometown of Manchester, somewhere where he will get the respect he deserves - by saying that i am not putting blame on scousers for causing the incident, it could have anyone from any town. Such a shame that the UK stretch of the tour had to end this way.
The five star rating is obviously based on previous Morrissey performances, as this particular event only lasted around 8 minutes! Still love ya Moz xx
