I've been dying to see Bright Eyes for over 3 years and never had an opportunity to. Sometimes when you really want to go to something so badly, you hype it up in your head and create expectations that are very hard to live up to; but I guess if anyone's gonna be able to do it, it's Bright Eyes!

First of all, the choice of venue was INCREDIBLE. Such a beautiful place with great acoustics and a great view, even though I was sitting way up on the side I could see everything and felt connected to the gig.

The set-list was great, I would have wanted "First Day of My Life" but you can't have it all, and I was more than chuffed with what I got. The music was amazing, the singing was amazing, the connection to the audience was amazing - I want to go again!!

Finally decided to get into the "Gig" scene, and brought a couple of my mates along who both introduced me to bright eyes and had the same love for them as I had aquired over the past two years.
To have chosen Bright eyes for my first gig had to be the best choice I've made in a while, as other reviews have said Oberst's stage presence was incredible, he loved every second of being on stage, as did I.
The set list was perfect (would have loved easy lucky free though) and ending the gig with "one for you, one for me" made my night one of the best nights ever...
His voice was beautiful and cd quality (only way I could think to put it).
The thing I loved the most was the remarkable age range that this band has gathered, I saw people from the age of 15 years old to sweet old couples enjoying this wonderful music...
This review may seem a little too over the top but I don't care it was incredible! :D

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

p.s. Jenny and Johnny were new to me but remarkable all the same, very country western, which reminds me Jenny Lewis stars in Bolt (a film I would also recommend).

From the moment the support act arrived on stage, we were in for a good night. Jenny & Johnny, a lesser known folk band, were brilliant, and really set the mood for the night.

Enter Bright Eyes....fortunately I had just seen them at Glastonbury and been blown away by Conor Oberst's stage presence and was looking forward to comparing the two gigs.

This won hands down. My boyfriend, a fan for the past 9 years, has had tickets twice before and been disappointed by cancellation, but this was worth the wait. Oberst's emotion and energy held us as we watched the hour and a half long set, no mean feat at the end of a long tour.

An incredible gig, full of powerful emotion and epic performances, and Oberst seemed shocked at the crowd's adoration and respect - clearly he is too modest.

Bright Eyes were incredible! I have never been so happy before. Conor had me crying and laughing throughout the set, and he was incredible with the crowd! I loved every second of the show and I even met Conor Oberst which was amazing.
I would go see them again and again and a million more times.

Favourite moment: EXTREMELY difficult for me to choose, but I would say the encore - 'Ode to Joy', particularly the instrumental. @

Setlist: Not in order, the setlist included the Travelling Song, Old Soul Song, Bowl of Oranges, Shell Games, Take It Easy (Love Nothing), Jejune Stars, Something Vague, Ode To Joy, Landlocked Blues, Approximate Sunlight, Beginner's Mind, Ladder Song, One For You, One For Me, Four Winds, If The Brakeman Turns My Way, Poison Oak, Gold Mine Gutted, Arc Of Time, Hit The Switch (?), Easy/Lucky/Free (?), From A Balance Beam, Lover I Don't Have To Love, Method Acting. I think this is pretty much it-there are some songs I might have missed, and possibly a couple I may have added in! @

Bright Eyes were beyond amazing....why does this page not have more than a 5 star rating system?!

The set list was pretty much perfect, a lot of my favourite songs were performed. I particularly liked the opening ("Travelling Song"), it was a great way to respond to the audiences anticipation and to help build up the energy/atmosphere. I couldn't pick a highlight of the evening as I was enthralled throughout by the music, Conor Oberst's singing/performance, lighting and, well, just the whole production. Seeing, and hearing, Bright Eyes perform live is so much better than on any video clip/live CD (namely Motion Sickness, which I love). Incredible. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that there were no posters for sale at the merch stand-although this is trivial and in no way affected my experience of seeing Bright Eyes!!!

Jenny and Johnny were also brilliant, I was ecstatic when I found out they were the supporting act, and loved the fact that they returned onstage for the encore (which blew me away). The venue itself exceeded my expectations-it was clean, modern, easy to find, and very accessible. I felt it was just the right size-it wasn't too big that it lost the intimacy of other venues I have been to. Overall, it was an evening I did not want to end. Ever.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Everything is left on stage with Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst gives everything he possibly can with each and every song; emotion, passion, and energy pour out of him.

The setlist was wonderful, bringing us a mix of old favourites and new hits, throwing the odd curve ball at us now and again.

If you get a chance to see Bright Eyes perform before they throw in the towel then please do. It'll be the best decision you could possibly make.

Having seen the band a few years ago and being disappointed with Conor Oberst's lack of communication with the audience and engagement with the event I was extremely pleased to see that my favourite band was back on form.

They played for over 2 hours and had a wide range of old and new songs, their sound was impeccable and Conor's interaction with the audience and genuine appreciation of the fans made the night that bit more special. The other band members added to the sound and gave the music it's distinctive tone. I especially liked the trumpeter and pianist.

The venue itself is a great place to see bands as it is intimate and you can normally see them from most angles.
The support act Jenny and Johnny were also excellent and a nice added treat to the night. I particularly enjoyed the encore where Bright Eyes invited Jenny and Johnny back on stage to sing with them.
If I could see them every night I would. I was sad when it ended as it was without a doubt one of the best gigs I've seen this year, if not one of the best gigs I've seen, ever.

The only criticism of the gig was that the space between songs was too long.

I enjoyed two superb sets, first from the incredible support act Jenny and Johnny, and then the sublime main event that was Bright Eyes. My foot was tapping like an impatient Michael Flatley, starting with Jenny and Johnny pulling out all the stops to showcase their brilliant new album I'm Having Fun Now.

Jenny's voice soared at times, especially on the two acoustic numbers that ended the show, and her supremely talented other-half Johnathan Rice came across like a less chemically treated, organic version of Pete Doherty. He oozed uber-cool credibility and held his own against Jenny's stunning vocals.

Bright Eyes opened with 'Four Winds' from their Cassadega LP, and introduced some belting rocky numbers from The People's Key before letting things mellow a little with some classics from their back catalogue.

Conor Oberst opened-up to the appreciative audience as the set continued and seemed to revel in the applause, becoming a whirling dervish of indie energy on the heavy guitar-laden tracks.

To top off an already fantastic performance, the lights dimmed for moving renditions of 'Landlocked Blues' and the modern classic 'First Day Of My Life', which in recent years the band are only inclined to pull out on very special occasions. This was one of those occasions.

Stunning gig with stunning big band sound. Conor played tunes from a selection of albums with vigour and energy. Not normally known for his crowd interaction he seemed on good, witty form all night.

Bright Eyes were absolutely incredible in the Albert Hall ... an amazing set in a beautiful venue. The performance was unbelievable, so passionate and the band were so tight!
