Favourite moment: The rendition of Ocean and Treat your Mama with respect @
Setlist: Treat your mama, losing you, Better Than, Ocean, a new unknown song to me, Used to get High and more which I cant remember and not necessarily in this order. @
Opening act(s): Sorry cant remember their names, but they were good and the first guy joined John Butler later on drums and vocals. @
After travelling a long way to get to London on the Friday afternoon and fighting our way through the city rush hour on the underground we were feeling less than enthusiastic about attending any gig that night. We arrived at Islington and were relieved to find that the venue was only a short walk from the underground station and that there were lots of restaurants and pubs to enjoy nearby before the gig started. We last saw John Butler a very talented guitarist and slide guitar player singer/songwriter) about 4 years ago when he had his trio with him, but he is so good we were keen to see this brilliant artist again dispite the long journey and he did not disappoint. There was a support of 2 other very talented musicians to warm up the audiance and when John Butler came out the place ( a real chapel!) erupted especially after his brilliant performance of' Ocean' which got a deserved standing ovation. He was just gob smackingly good and it is a shame he does not do more gigs in this country or be more well known but he was well worth the wait and I for one will be looking out for when he plays again. The venue was in itself very special too, no fab light show and some sound discrepancies (especialy when drums used) but sitting in the pughs and listening to that beautiful guitar playing fill the church you felt you were a part of something unique and we were. Thank you John Butler!
