best gig in a decade cocksparrow were awesome a lot more powerful live than on record blew my socks off lol what can i say about rancid that hasnt been said before i think they were very brave with the line up couldve been blown off the stage close call

Awesome gig! Cock Sparrer the old school guardians of punk gave a brilliant energic performance that would have put much younger bands to shame! The 40 years in the business hasn't blunted the bands enthusiasm but enhanced it.
Had been looking forward to this gig for months, it was a toss up between this and the Hives cause soppy bollocks had bought tickets for both gigs. Although my wife said the Hives were excellent I doubt very much they were in the same class as Rancid, bit gutted they never played Let Me Go but the rest of the set was EPIC!!! a new album coming out in January to boot!!....my only regret is that I didn't get tickets for the following gigs on Sat and Sun.

Without a doubt the best rancid set I've seen in about 8 years...
Played all the old songs with the same energy as they used to and limited the number of lifeless new songs to about 4!! Bang on!!

From the outset with first support band Control the music was great and the atmosphere 'lively'. Old timers the Cockney Rejects were a brilliantly energetic blast of original fast and raw Punk of yesteryear and both bands generated the right boost to an already energetic full-house to welcome Rancid on to the stage.

Twenty years down the line and one of the grand masters of Punk Rock did not dissapoint, far from it. Starting with Maxwell Murder, they threw out a host of hits from across the decades and albums with all the swagger of seasoned professionals who have never lost that rawness which has endeared them to fans for such a long time. The encore included included Time Bomb and finished on Ruby Soho to close a fantastic night of ridiculous dancing, pogoing and all out, fun filled chaos before a massively happy crowd filtered out into the snow filled streets. Just sublime, can't wait til the next time.

Lets go, ...And out come the wolves, life won't wait and S/T(2000) are widely accepted as classics of their genre but its when Rancid play live that they really come into their own.

They last arrived on our shores plugging the slightly weaker "let the dominos fall" album and their 2009 set suffered a little as they had an album to plug.

This time, weaker album tracks were nowhere to be seen as the 4 albums mentioned above were all extensively covered along with favourites from their earlier and later records.

A rabid fan base new every note and the resulting atmosphere was electric.

They still feel as exciting and fresh as Operation Ivy felt in the late 80s.

There is little that can be said about Rancid that hasn't been said hundreds of times before, we all know they kill it live, we all know Life Won't Wait is unlikely to be bettered, and we all know what to expect from them when we buy a ticket.

It doesn't make it any less thrilling though.

Oh yeah, and Tim now sports a gigantic Sage-Francis-esque beard.

Rancid are now 20 years old but just seem to get better with age. Lars does most of the singing these days and Tim has done most of the beard growing looks a bit ZZ Top, but still sounds punk rock. Highlights for me were Time bomb, salvation and Ruby Soho. here's to the next 20 for the Rancid hooligans

I first saw Rancid at Reading Festival in 2001. They had signs hanging outside the tent saying "Warning! Sound levels may exceed 120db". 11 years on from that and 20 years in total for Rancid and they're still loud, they still play an amazing live set and they are still PUNK!
The new songs all sound great live and the older songs are true classics in every sense. Fantastic gig, fantastic band. One of my favourite live bands ever actually, and they've never been anything less than awesome.
(even if Tim was taking Movember to extremes with his face fuzz)

A very good night Cockney Rejects got everyone in the mood before Rancid blew the place apart with ease. Only downside was the full pint of lager making contact with my head & back at the start of Rancid's first song! NB. Not sure if Tim Armstrong's new look will catch on though..........
