Okay. His first booked performance was sold out - which I found out the hard way. Thankfully, due to popular demand, another date was added. Definite value for money.
Maceo and his band opened with 'Off The Hook' - one of my favourites. I don't know all of his tracks, but I get to learn more each time around. The Jazz Cafe is a cool venue with a great vibe. Best of all, Mr. Parker and his team know when to dial it down for laidback, and when to raise the roof, with the likes of 'Uptown Up.'
Miss him play, and be sure to kick yourself.

What a great night out watching a master at work.
Played all the great tunes plus more.

First time I've seen him live - there's much more energy on stage than recorded. Excellent evening and an amazing 3 hour non-stop set. Much of the audience was dancing (or rather, moving to the rhythm) and singing along to the audience participation parts. I'd definitely go again...

I had seen him years ago in Barcelona and he was great but last time I saw him in London wasn't that good, many solos and little group music, they didn't play some of his classics... their performance didn't impress me... they are incredible musicians but I felt they were tired and giving 50 %.

this was an amazing gig. i've waited to see Maceo for years and it was worth it!! i took along a friend who wasn't a big funk/soul fan but he was converted within no time. the band were awesome and it was great to see the UK's very own Denis Rollins in the horn section. the Jazz Cafe is one of very few small venues that has the clout to book names like Maceo and the intimate space to make it an unforgettable experience!

Absolutely awesome evening. Maceo really knows how to get the crowd going. So much energy. He had a fantastic band and the legendary trombonist Dennis Rollins. Outstanding!!

I went to see Maceo Parker at the Jazz Cafe not really knowing what to expect bar knowing the venue would be great to display he undoubted talents. I was not to be disappointed and the near 2hr show flew by with a fantastic funky performance that had the strong crowd in raptures. I guess the only disappointment was not playing the hugely popular "Cross the Tracks" which first introduced me to Maceo back in the late 80's. However, if you haven't seen MP live before and wanted a funky evening then I would thoroughlly recommend seeing him next time he is in town. You don't become a legend playing all these years for no reason...
