My first Steely Dan show was (from other reviews) one of their best ever - lucky me! I loved all of it, the sound was superb, the playing wonderful, and a great choice of songs. The encore included Reelin' In The Years with the original guitarist Elliot Randall (who lives in London) and brought the house down. The Hammy Odeon is not air-conditioned (or it wasn't working) and it was HOT but the music was so good nobody seemed to mind. All the musicians were of course first rate; I thought Jon Herington on guitar was particularly good.

sometimes you can be a liitle too laid back! the highlight for me and my partner of this show was when Elliot Randall took to the stage and nailed Reelin in the Years to the boards. It's a pity that the band and audience were a litlle restrained for the rest of the show. All that aside you can't fault the sheer musicality of the whole band. My partner was really disappointed though....they did just not rock enough and are now too much a "cabaret". For me though.......excellent, yet again.

I've been a keen fan of Steely Dan since university 30-odd years ago, but this was the first time I had seen or heard them live.
Donald Fagen is every bit the person you expect him to be; acerbic, witty, but no hogger of the limelight, etc.. Walter Becker more laid back and the man to some extent lurking in the shadows. But put them together and, boy, what entainers and entertainment.
Dan - come back next year, please
