SAXON - AND THE BAND PLAYED ON!
Rock City @
 - Nottingham @
 - Mon 9 Nov 2009 @
Favourite moment: Biffs chatting with the audience was great - none of this "us and them" attitude. This is a band in contact with their fans. @
Setlist: Great! 747 Strangers In The Night, Princess Of The Night, The Bands Played On, Ride Like The Wind, Strong Arm Of The Law, Heavy Metal Thunder ....... @
Opening act(s): Both support bands were great and complimented the headline act perfectly. @

Attention all new bands and musicians! If you want to be a success in the music industry and become a legendary live act then Saxon are a band that you should be watching and allowing to mentor you. Slick, entertaining and still as powerful as ever, Saxon rocked Rock City in Nottingham with two encores and a set as fresh as ever. All the favourites were there from 747 Strangers In The Night to Battalions of Steel, delivered with energy, enthusiasm and Biff Biffords legendary banter with the crowd. Sharp dazzling guitars with powerful punchy drumming made for an entoxicating sound. Anvil had clearly watched and learned and they delivered their set with similar humour and close audience contact. An excellent evening, a brilliant venue and a classy headline band that could teach some of the usurpers to the Kings Of Rock Crown a thing or two! Oh, and Biff wore a Remembrance Poppy throughout the performance - sheer class.

The line-up was impressive. Anvil, the true survivors of heavy metal, entertained the crowed like no one else. One could not help but to see the love and devotion those guys had for the work they did and the enthusiasm they showed in entertaining the crowd. They also proved to everyone what accomplished musicians they are. I could not control my laughter when Lips played the dildo!
Saxon played a 2 hours set of their old and new material. They showed age has not taken anything away from their raw energy and musical abilities.
The venue was also impressive with a clear sound and visuals.
