Great performances from both June Tabor and The Oysterband. With music from their two collaborative albums, I think all concerned raised their game and were spurred on by performing some fresh music. I have seen the Oysterband many times over the years (and bought Freedom and Rain upon its realese 21 years ago) and sometimes wonder how they keep up thier obvious love of performing the same songs on a regular basis. But they always do. Its just that on Saturday night they seemed even more in love with the music. 'A change is as good as a rest...'
As for June Tabor, I have seem here perform a handful of times over the years. She has tended to offer slow paced introspective works that suit her distinctive voice. Saturday's show allowed her to rock out a bit more than usual and showed that she really does have a great range. Still her performance with John Jones of 'Love will tear us apart' was an emotional highlight.
