Absolutely first class show at Perth Concert Hall. Superb venue and some the best musicianship I have ever had the privilege to hear. I'll definitely be following Lyle and his band round the UK the next time they tour.

This concert will live in my memory forever. Seeing two consummate musicians playing, singing and interacting together was beyond my expectations and having Joe Ely join them for an emotional last 15 minutes and encores was the cherry on the top of the sundae. Thoughtful song selection including immediate responses to audience requests drew from the extensive back catalogues of both Lovett and Hiatt. So many good songs sung clearly, played beautifully and appreciated warmly by a largely knowledgable, just below capacity audiience. I enjoyed the 'between song dialogue' which started off a bit stilted but developed during the concert into a engaging insight into the influences and characters of each player. The Townes Van Zandt quote was brilliant. The only down was an impatient heckler who implored them 'to just get on with it guys' during an extended dialogue. He was put in his place by the wit of John Hiatt. It is unclear why this sad individual came to the concert, what disrespect..

Two and a half hours without a break of old and new compositions from two consumate performers. Surprise guest Joe Ely joined three quarters of the way into a most enjoyable evening.On the negative someone decided it should be a standing only evening which was ironic considering the artists sat down throughout the show.
The evening was spoilt for me by the lack of respect for the performers shown by non stop talking of selfish morons who acted as if there were being entertained in a pub.
The main bar at the rear of the venue served alcohol throughout the show.

These two guys are pure class. They are very different stylistically yet complement each other well. Hiatt is a real energy singer and guitar player. Lovett sings very introspectively, wrapping his songs with a beautifully sensitive voice. When they harmonise the effect is stunning. They obviously like and respect each other which occasionally results into rampling conversations. but they are quite responsive to audience mood and request.

The venue, well oh dear if you are a standing member of the audience. Unless you are 6 feet tall and up front you have no chance of seeing the artists. No excuses here, their stage could have been raised for all the £30 per heads received..

Great performance.
Lyle's voice is gorgeous, yummy....... remenisant of Texas, times spent in Houston and travelling around America. Quintessentially Americana, slow and melodic, country with a touch of folk, blues, soul.......
Shame they didnt stand up but remained seated throughout like a couple of favourite old uncles, meaning we couldn't see them so well as we were standing! Why do those tall geeky guys always hog the front and block everyone elses view?
They seemd to enjoy themselves and each other, sharing jokes, making it fun and cool.

Two, guys two guitars, some wonderful songs. S'all you need when the performers are as good as this. Enjoyable anecdotes spoiled ocassionally by some idiot hecklers (it ruins the intimacy and the vibe). John Hiatt was the dominant partner, in very strong voice and solid on guitar, ably supported by Lyle Lovett. A two and a half-hour set and there were still dozens of classics unplayed (wot no Lipstick Sunset?)

A little bit too much talking between songs (prompting some heckling from the audience), but still an enjoyable performance from two excellent performers (plus Joe Ely). Lyle Lovett has such a great voice so it was a shame not to hear more from him.
