I have seen Killing Joke countless times over the years, and this event was just as awesome as the first time I saw them. They played to what seemed to be a 'packed to capacity' audience and the songs just kept coming - no one was standing still long enough to take a breath!

Having bought the Jokes High intensity cardio work out video(haha!) i was very pleased to catch them in the flesh again at the Forum . These Stalwarts of the punk generation can still get hundreds bouncing about like mutants before them . Fun had by all and a relentless workout at the front made it a great night for me and fellow punk worshippers . Didn't need a sauna on Saturday performance was cracking .Tracks Wardance and Pandemonium and We watched the sun go down clinched it for me. Slightly bruised and no broken bones was an achievement as it did get a bit hectic at times before the punk masters ! Great to see a good number of young followers in the crowd and a few impeccably dressed punks of old still doing it . maybe baldness stopped there being a few more.eh? ?
They used a formula that worked i.e give us all the stuff we liked most all the way through their 35 year career . The spirit and mood was electric and took me back to my first gig to see them c1985 at the Hammersmith palais (sadly now defunct venue ). It was a full house and deserved to be one !!
I recommend killing Joke to the uninitiated . Do some homework and get a couple of their albums then go to a Joke gig !! I met people from Belgium and all over the UK for this one .That speaks for itself. and how lucky we are to have such good venues here too along with a loyal fan base.

I've seen Killing Joke countless times and never been disappointed. This gig was another special night. The venue (The Forum downstairs) is was great place to see any lively band.

Really enjoyed the music, the son selection and attmosphere.

Absolutely fantastic! KJ know what we like & they never disappoint (apart from not turning up at Wembley mebbe). I was right up there in the mosh pit and had a brilliant time, and have the bruises to prove it, yeah! Just what I needed to purge some of my emotions after a godawful fortnight.
Support band were pretty damn good too, influences of Joy Divisiion, bit of Nirvana maybe, excellent mix if high octane, cool drumming & general jumping aroundness, We will be buying their album. Not sure about their name tho!

it was a fantastic night met some great people,i cannot sing Jayce Lewis praises enough,he always delivers a great performance every time & the Forum is a far better venue ,he definately suits a bigger stage.my wish is for his career to grow.i also thoroughly enjoyed killing joke.hounds were ok.

Best ever - played all original songs - back to their unforgetable roots...
Crowd and venue were great and best ever atmosphere at a KJ gig
Panadmonium/Psyche/Love Like Blood/Empire Song/Follow the leader/Asteroid to name a few. Support acts Yayce Lewis one to watch for - some great bass rifts and tunes.

Well I was unsure at first if I should see them, knowing the fans include some tough guys, and afterall I'm only 15... But the audience surprised me, skinheads, punks, goths, metal heads, or just people who like killing joke, and they were all so kind and cautious in the awesome mosh pit, even noting that there were one or two kids. The music was phenomenal, original lineup, legendary. Played music from their entire career, something for everyone, and everything was great. Scary, euphoric also. Memorable oppeners, The Icarus Line, but to be honest, The Crying Spell whom I only caught the last few moments of, were pretty crap... Never seen them before, but can't wait to see them again, they're not getting any worse, they are at their best!

This gig was awesome. Took the family there including a ten year old. The venue was great, the audience were friendly and the music was awesome! What more could we ask for. Would definetely see KJ again and would go to Manchester Academy again.

First time seeing the kiiling joke gig and they were good. The crowd were into it and everyone was enjoying themselves .....until 1 hour in when the power went off. This ended the gig prematurely and for me was a disappointment.. Not their fault but I think they could have thought about the crowd.... Up-to this stage most of the songs were newer songs and the old faithfuls were probably left for the encores. Rather than everyone being ushered out....it would have been good if they came out and at least sung 'love like blood' acapello. No music or speakers would have been necessary as the whole crowd would have carried it.... That would have left everyone remembering a unique gig, rather than an abrupt ending

Devasting the set was cut short due to the power seemingly been blown, i guess around halfway through the set. Seemed as though they were about to really hit their stride, when the event came to a standstill. The review would have been much higher, but alas it's brevity obviously prevented the inclusion of such stand out number as Wardance, Pssyche and so on. Stil delightful to hear Unspeakable, Chop Chop, Sun Goes Down, The Great Cull and Asteroid before the early close. Killing Joke lost none of their power, a pity the ABC in Galsgow cannot make same claim.

Killing Joke were superb, but we only got two thirds of a show due to a power failure. This was their only Scottish gig and people had traveled from as far away as Ireland to attend.Hopefully the band or promoter will do something for the people who were there as we missed some of the bands best-known songs. Another gig, cut-price for original ticket holders? Lets hope so.........

this was the first time seeing killing joke even though i have been a big fan since the 80s ,and that my favourite song of all time is love like blood,and to actually be at front centre of the stage was mind blowing,whilst waiting like a kid on christmas morning for the greatest band and greatest frontman i have ever seen, and believe me i have seen a few, to appear,they did not dissapoint ,the place rocked and i just hope i get the chance to see them again. LONG LIVE THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF KILLING JOKE AND THANKS FOR ONE OF THE GREATEST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE , i will never forget it.

The venue for this gig was upgraded fro Academy 1 to the main Academy (I think I got that right?) and I felt that some of the incredible ambiance usually created by my favorite band of all time, was lost. They still knock spots of just about everyone when it comes to chainsaw guitar and the voice of Jazz in perfect powerful pitch. The drumming got a little exuberant at times, increasing the tempo a bit too much. BUT all in all still best value solid rock as you will ever see. It is like watching the proto grunge, hardcore, industrial grandaddies of them all reminding us where it all came from (KJ of course) and why they are still a force to be reckoned with. Can't wait until the next album/ tour. Oh, and for all you Metallica fans out there, KJ's "The Wait" needs to be seen live by the original, KJ - this how a guitar should cut the sound. Jazz forgot his trademark face paint, a little dissapointing but forgiveable. Let's hope the next tour sees them back in Academy 1

Killing Joke is, and has for many years, been the corner stone of British Punk Rock. If you're under the age of 35 and never seen or heard of Killing Joke before then it is going to be difficult to describe them; probably why the average age at a Killing Joke gig is about 48! Killing Joke have perfected the art of combining good old fashioned Rock'n'Roll with a wide variety of tribal and industrial/ drum'n'base refrains, to the extent that you never really know whether you should be head banging/ po-going/ trancing or chanting for rain. The outcome though is usually the same - awesome music delivered with passion and unswerving energy. However, Thursday night at the Roundhouse whilst being the first airing for some new material, was a little disappointing. The acoustics were poor which meant that unless you actually knew what Jazz was singing, you would have had no idea what the song was. Visually, although the set was dark because of the backdrop images (which was very reminiscent of early Human League gigs circa 1978) it was sometimes difficult to see anyone on stage. Having said all that - I'll still be queuing up for my ticket for next years tour; having been a devotee since early 1980 I'm still in awe of them..

Killing Joke were my fav band in the eighties & beyond. Me & Welsh crew used to follow them all over the country, sleeping in bus shelters, parks & even breaking into a bus depot once to sleep on a bus! They had something noone else had at the time & after seeing them in Bristol 5th March, I was truly happy to see they have not lost it at all.
I last saw them in Brixton Academy sometime in 90's so itz been a long time. I met Jaz once, as friend of mine was doing some programming for him & he inspired me to go to Egypt & hang out with the tribe in Geeza, people with the keys to the Pyramids! I have been back to Egypt many times since & thank him for that.
They rocked Bristol Academy & Bristol rocked back, young & older. (I fall into the older category but then so do the joke) I will rock as long as they do. Inspired & thank you to them for an awesome night.
