Show was quite enjoyable but, sadly, suffered from excess Anderson and insufficient Wakeman.
This was spotted early doors by Mr Anderson pointing to Wakemans setup then he, off stage, pointing downwards.

End result was too much Anderson/guitar and insufficient Wakeman/keyboards.

Wakeman was left looking very much, the support act.

Not what was wanted or paid for.

Otherwise, an interesting evenings entertainment, just not quite what was anticipated......

Always expect Jon won't be able to sing as well as he did when we first saw him at the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow in the late 70's, but once again it was as beautiful as ever.

Would have loved more songs and more of my favourites. Even more solo keyboard playing from Rick would have been brilliant to hear.

The patter was good, but you think it's probably the same stuff every show, but no matter.

Brilliant!!! JA still has a fantastic voice, and RW hasnt lost his magical keyboard touch. Both were very funny, poking fun at each other. Great to hear the 'golden oldies' and new stuff. Great night.

This performance was painful. We left at the interval after deciding we'd listed to too much of Jon ranting about the "living tree". I was completely gobsmacked to discover Mr Anderson couldn't even remember the lyrics to his new material, and was having to read them from a script. He has lost the plot! If I'd walked into a pub and found these 2 guys performing this music, I would have left without buying a drink. I want a refund!

I took the wife along to this show with trepidation after dragging her along to YES. I had nothing to worry about, absolutely fantastic show and I immediately purchased the new CD The Living Tree. My wife enjoyed herself immensely as did I.

Must be close to twenty years since the last time I saw Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman, during the Yes years when they weren't allowed to call themselves Yes, and I was looking forward to this one. After some talk of Jon's voice 'not being quite what it was' the two took to the stage with a round of applause and a little apprehension, on my part. All questions were answered as soon as Jon sang. Superb. Maybe not the same voice of twenty and thirty years ago but still so Jon Anderson. The duo weaved their way through a fine mixture of new and old. The highlights were understandably the classic Yes numbers, but with an acoustic twist and a very welcome one at that. Rick was on top form on the between song stories. Jon did his best to keep him in line and focus on the stories behind the songs but Rick, fresh his 'grumpy old men' appearances was intent on revealing a few personal 'secrets' from his past. Very funny.
Jon comes across as a true cosmic warrior. He eats, sleeps and lives his cosmic energy belief with a guenuine passion. A gentle soul in turbulent world. Almost comforting in today's self centred society.
Maybe it was just me but it seemed that the keyboards were only playing through the monitors as it appeared a little detached from the vocals and guitar at times but none the less Rick played some solo sections that stirred the soul and together they performed the set with the effortless passion of true craftsmen happy in each others company and at one with the gathered congregation.

What a privilege to spend an evening with such talented (and yes, old!) gentlemen. The two play off each other so well and the acoustic versions of old favourites were a joy to hear. Jon's voice is like crystal and Rick's keyboard skills are as sharp as ever. I got the feeling that they were enjoying the evening just as much as the audience

A very disapointing concert from the old Yes men. Although Rick Wakeman is a very show man these guys together need a full backing band behind them to shine in a venue the size of the Playhouse. The sound system was inadequate for a large hall & overall it was bad value for money. Too much god squad,love & peace type music from Mr.Anderson.

Great to hear that Jon has lost nothing in the quality and strength of his voice despite his illness and Rick is just Rick a wonderful character and musician. Having said all this the night left me a wee bit dissapointed - never really took off, I can't put my finger on what was missing (the rest of Yes?) but it was all very low key. Felt a wee bit comfortable like a night with friends in your own home - not a bad thing but also not a night out!

A life long Yes fan, I was looking forward to the gig. I thought the sound balance was not kind to the keyboards which didn't deliver a big enough sound. Jon's vocals were good as always but the material was corny and any sense of the kind of mystique and emotion of earlier work was soon destroyed by Rick's attempt at stand up which seemed totally incongruous and more akin to Bernard Manning. The new songs were not all that impressive and sounded like the description given I.e. Rick in England and Jon in USA.

The crowd were indulging in their polite applause. Can you imagine it, polite applause for these 2 legends of progressive rock!

I hope it improved second half. I didn't wait to see.

I played some of Jon's earlier albums later at home as an antidote.

a wonderful and entertaining evening running just over two hours, filled with humour and some excellent and touching new songs sung as only the voice of jon can deliver.
i love seeing artists like this who have such a back catalogue sing and talk about the more recent and new stuff they do. I only hope it is not another four years till they collaberate again.

Mixture of classic Yes songs and new material - Jon occasionally strumming an acoustic guitar accompanied by the genius that is Rick - if you are into to Yes , this is unmissable - Jon's voice as clear and pitch-perfect as ever

Too much new material which is not up to standard. Jon's voice is still good though. Rick would be better doing a whole comedy show as his links were the best part.

Lovely eveing listening to songs old and new from these two legends of the Yes days. Two opposites. Jon all "love, peace and harmony throughout the world". Rick playing the grumpy old man and sexist to boot during the pre-ambles to each song. He's a funny guy. Felt so relaxed it was like being in my own living room. An excellent night's entertainment. After a wonderful dinner at the Colan Doyle opposite the theatre. (Highly recommended. Real ale, excellent food and service and very inexpensive.)

Jon Anderson sings like an Angel. Ive been waiting a good few years to hear him live and he was fantastic.
Negative points of the gig at the Playhouse - I was sitting in row c right hand side and could hardly hear the superb ( and funny ) . Wakemans keyboards. Jon Anderson altough is one of the best vocalists on the planet I wish he would leave the guitar alone and get someone else in who can play it.
Best bits were he sang without the guitar. By the way Playhouse, £4 for a half pint of lager in a platic cup is out of order.

Having been a big fan of Rick Wakeman for many many years I was bitterly disappointed to realise that the show was basically Jon Anderson singing with Wakeman playing backing music. What a waste of Wakeman's talent!

Would not recommend this to anyone who wants to see Rick Wakeman.
