It is fairly rare to see Al Jarreau in concert in this country - perhaps once a year if we are lucky. His voice is a strong and soulful as ever and he needed no support act. Al Jarreau carries no passengers and they all worked their musical magic on stage. Unfortunately he does not spend enough time in London. A real honour to see this guy live.

Al Jarreau returns to the uk for a brilliant gig- he may not have been here for a few years but the Festival Hall was full of fans both young & old! It was good to hear some of the early songs as well as the favourites like Mornin & Moonlighting. Hopefully Al will return soon.

After waiting 27 years to see the man I was not disappointed. He is charming and unassuming. I'm not sure he gave us his Greatest Hits as advertised but there were certainly one or two...Easy and Morning hit the mark for me.
Al Jarreau becomes the song and the music...inextricably linked by his amazing vocal abilities, given he is now 71 years old!

I first saw Al in concert in London in 1979 and have probably witnessed his every UK appearance in the 30+ years since. He never disappoints, building a warm rapport with his always appreciative audience and always showing a genuine desire to recognise his many fans for their loyalty and support over the years.
He's getting on now, and like many when we saw the gig titled "Greatest Hits Tour" we wondered if this might in some way be a swansong. We hope not - at RFH on Sunday he performed at the top of his game for almost three hours, demonstrating a lot of life left yet. He clearly still has the voice, and we hope his appetite to perform will continue for many more years yet. The only thing stopping me from giving 5* was that he didn't perform Teach Me Tonight, Roof Garden, So Good, or Since I Fell For You - four songs that for me at least would be on any AJ Greatest Hits Album!

What a pleasure it was to spend time with the legendary Mr Jarreau! He may be in his twilight years but he's still got it! A musical journey from beginning to end which evoked fantastic memories over the years. It was fantastic to be introduced to the amazing vocals of Chris Walker and guitar legend, Earl Klugh. The Festival Hall was also an ideal venue - felt like a cosy night in reminiscing with an old friend!
