great show by a great band have loved from the first song. Played my absolute favorite
Thomas the Rhymer.
I am playing at the White Rock on Beetles day and feel chuffed to stand on the same stage as Maddy Prior.

Steeleye returned to Hastings after many years and again they rocked, this time at the White Rock Theatre (previously they performed at the end of the pier). The first half of the 'gig' was devoted to their 70's album "Now We Are Six" and as Maddy pointed out the aim was to reproduce the sound and many of the tracks from that album. It was great to hear all the old favourites again, I was however disappointed that the sound levels for the lead guitar were not as apparent as on the original album! ...perhaps the sound mixer should have a listen to the CD. Maddy introduced only two of the band to the audience, that was a pitty as I had forgotten what was who as we have all aged quite a bit since the 70's. The second half was also excellent with some old favourites plus some new material (new to me).

Steeleye Span are supberb musicians and the show they perform is magical. Maddy Prior's voice is still amazing and she still has the verve and passion to perform. A wonderful evening for all !

This was the 10th time we have seen Steeleye and/or Carnival Band in recent years. Just as good as ever, especially great to see Rick back on board, his voice is amazing, especially when he gets into Cold Haily WIndy Night. Also enjoyed Van Diemens Land, and new songs were good too. Pete was brilliant as usual on the fiddle, cant beleive how he gets his fingers to move so quickly! Keep up the great shows for as long as possible, we''ll be there in opur area (Burgess Hill/Brighton).

It was a delight to hear the good old melodies and those intelligent lyrics. What a credit it is to SS that they are still making memorable music after all this time. We enjoyed the whole experience.

What a shame, the purity of the vocals that I remember from the 70's were drowned out by too much base. This resulted in distortion which meant that the lyrics could not be recognised. I don't know if the fault was with the band or the venue, I will avoid both in the future.

Very disappointing and flat. Having been a fan for most of their career, I was saddened to see how so much of the concert was so laboured.

Great show.. memories of seeing them 40 years ago; still fresh, accomplished, but with the patina of maturity and experience.
Hoping to catch them again at the Barbican with martin Carthy and John Kirkpatrick.

Brilliant. The sight and (very clear) sound of such fine musicians still thoroughly enjoying their art was inspiring. My only gripe would be that there were songs missing from the set I'd like to have heard. But when a band has such an enormous wealth of quality material, this is inevitable.
