Well, what can I say, I literally had the best weekend of my life, the combination of great music, an amazing atmosphere, friendly people and helpful stewards, all making my first festival experience truly unforgettable.

Seeing Slash and Machine Head on the Friday just made me forget the horrific weather of just mud and whilst singing along to great GnR classics, who would be unhappy.

Saturday well, what a day! Seeing Metallica for 2 hours whilst playing the black album as well as some of their biggest hits of the 80's and 90's was just magical. Tenacious D, Steel Panther, Saxon and Skindred were also superb.

The final day was Sabbath day, after waiting at the front of the barriers for almost 10 hours just to see Black Sabbath tear the stage apart was worth everything! Before them though I had the enjoyment of seeing Black Label Society, Anthrax, Megadeth and Soundgarden just finished the weekend in great style.

From the arrival Wednesday in the car park, the party atmosphere was palpable, rockers, goths, skaters and everyone else inbetween, all together for one reason, to rock!
Finding a suitable campsite and room to set up being all part of the fun, and at the end of a long day, settling down to sleep knowing that Friday could very well be the start of the best weekend of your life!
Finally the big first day comes, bringing such heavyweights as Mötley Crüe, Limp Bizkit and of course, the pulse pounding Faith No More, rocking us all to our cores to finish us off for that amazing night. We knew then, bruised and battered from hardcore pitting and wrestling our way to the front in such an immense crowd, what we had really let ourselves in for.
It all kicked up into the next gear the next day, Auger Bane, No Americana, The Crave and Tom 'Ripper' Owens to start us off, having our a**es handed to us on silver platters all the way through to The Blackout, Anvil, The Prodigy (Amazing!) And of course on the main stage, Pendulum whirling the crown into a frenzy, Marylin Manson was, well, Marylin Manson, and, after so many hours of waiting and trying to hold a place in the crowd, it was time, for Slipknot, to emerge in the fading daylight hours, headbanging and rocking us into the late night, with their heavy riffs and legendary drum beats still pounding in our ears all night.
The final day came round on a very early start to rush down to get a good spot for some breakfast for our stomachs and a feast for our ears as Stone Gods come to destroy the stage in the morning, followed in ever increasing heaviness by Tesla, Skin and the incredible Black Stone Cherry. Journey inspired the crowd with their flawless power-rock, and Dream Theater next to shake us all back out of our trance. Then it was off to the Tuborg stage for the unmissable Steel Panther, and coming back to catch the last few chords of the ever epic ZZ Top as the 'Classic Rock' night revs its engine to send us steaming into Whitesnake, epic as ever, making the swaying crowd feel like one big family together for one purpose, to salute the gods of rock with their fists in the air. And for the final treat, the unstoppable, the almighty Def Leppard, to send us on home, happy, satisfied, and completely and thoroughly fulfilled.
Overall, an astounding 5 days, I would definately recommend everybody tries it, and as for me and my friends, we're coming back next year without a doubt, and bringing everybody who hasn't experienced it with us!

Perfect way to spend my birthday (which was on the Saturday of the festival weekend)
The bands were amazing, and the lineup was epic!
Only fault was the main road/pathway through our camp (yellow camp) really needed straw putting down once the rain hit. It was dipped like a valley so either way was up and downhill.. And the mud made it hard to walk. If it was aided with straw... Then it would've been perfect.

Just incredible! Seen 21 bands and not 1 disappointed. The 3 headliners can't be faulted in any way. Only problem is that i can't see 2014 being as good. Hope to be proved wrong though

From the huge line up of bands to the headline acts themselves,this years festival was my best yet. Some new additions to the arena and some improvements to the campsite made for a great experience enjoyed by all!

Download organisers secured some amazing bands for the weekend but it's a shame that they got the billing for them oh so wrong! The Gaslight Anthem and 30 Seconds From Mars should never have appeared on the same stage as Rammstein and definitely did not deserve to be billed above Stone Sour and Five Finger Death Punch. If the organisers feel the need to introduce this trendy commercial kind of rubbish to what is traditionally a rock/metal event then at least give them their own stage as far away from the main one as possible. Limp Bizkit and Hellyeah should have been on the main stage and not the Zippo. And as for Devin Townsend, the poor guy had quite a turn out for his acoustic set only to have his sound drowned out from the Redbull stage. More planning needed. Either stagger the acoustic stage and Redbull stage timings so that the acoustics are given a fair shot or situate then away from all other stages!!!! Iron Maiden, as awesome as ever!!!! Keep this as a rock event!!!! I preferred the days when it was a 1 day event with 5 or 6 really quality bands playing!!!

me and my husband went this year for the first time and download lived up to its reputation. it was amazing. all the people who worked there were brilliant and helpful and the crowd where so fantastic. Download we will be back with some friends and i cant wait to see you next year xxxx

Download never fails to deliver a great atmosphere but that's down to us rockers not the organisers. The music was awesome the bands gave their souls and we worshipped them. The sound quality however was shocking on the main stage. Very flat and difficult to listen to. The security staff could be fun and of course only doing their jobs in thwarting us bringing our beer through to the arena, but some had egos the size of small countries and got a bit too touchy feely. Good job on the toilets this year I only refused to use two of them. Winner. So overall a good experience we will be going next year but are going to get more inventive with alcohol because £4.50 per pint is ridiculous.

I couldn't recommend download festival more! The bands were all amazing the atmosphere is sooo good! I enjoyed walking around the village looking at all the stalls and trying all the different food on offer. All the staff were really helpful and I got to meet loads of crazy people. Getting to see all my favourite bands over 3 days and also seeing the lead singer out of Mallory Knox abd Yashin stood right next to us are a few of the things I will never forget... all I can say is roll on DL2014

This was my 3rd year at download. They really did push to make it the best one yet. Looking at the line up i wasnt as excited as i had been the last two years. and yet, this year was by far the best year. Rammstein, Iron Maiden And Slipknot were all fantastic headliners. Five Finger death punch, Down, Korn, Coal Chamber, Alice In Chains and QOTSA all put on fantastic shows one the main stage. While Gogol Bordello, Limp Bizkit and A Day to remember really impressed me on the Second Stage. The camping was alot better prepared this year aswell. More Hay was available to counter-act the mud. Toilets were alot cleaner and this year didnt actually smell as much. Tent fires were handled quickly and maturely by staff. Critisms: During airbournes set the sound was completely wrong. Im not sure what had happened but noone could hear the singers voice leading to chanting 'turn it up' during their songs. 30 seconds to mars- just generally, shocking. But thats nit picking.

Download festival was awesome! Slipknot were the best band I saw and Limp Bizkit did a surprisingly great performance! Rammstein put on a great stage show as usual! The weather was a bit weird but we had a great time camped in Red camp!
