Absolutely rocking line up for the final Cathedral show ever. Grand Magus stole the show for me, playing straight up ROCKING metal that cannot fail to get the foot tapping and the head banging.
Cathedral were on great form tonight for the final show and the selection of songs was great, playing a range of earlier material right through their career.
Two negatives marred the night for me though:
1. The sound quality in the Kentish Town HMV Forum was absolutely APPALLING. I mean terrible for all bands, just booming mids and low end and absolutely no treble qualities. Consequently you could barely understand what the singers were saying between songs.
2. Drinks prices - I know it's London, I expect to pay a bit more in a gig but £4.50 for a can of guiness is just appalling. HMV sort the prices out or you're going to get more people smuggling spirits into the show and you know full well you can't stop it.

The gig was surprisingly amazing - didn't see much of the first band, but Church of Misery were great and then Cathedral were even better. Both sounded much better live than they do recorded. Only complaint is that doors opened at 20:30 meaning that by the time the gig finished I had missed the last coaches and trains back to Edinburgh, so had to wait an hour and a half for an early morning service.

King Tuts was a fantastic venue!! Gates of Slumber, Church of Misery and Cathedral were absolutely amazing!
