Notice to organisers of Hip Hop gigs: get a support act. Over an hour of some bored or overwhelmed lookng DJs spinning tunes while another guy walks lazily around trying to get the crowd to shout back at him every 15 minutes is yawnsome as hell. Sound check BEFORE the venue opens. Turn the lights down BEFORE the band hit the stage. And when the songs are finished, get off, encore or not. Don't let individuals stand around talking gibberish into the mic. And why were we searched on the door? Stuff like this can put you off, get some professionalism!
Other than that, Public Enemy were amazing, great bouncy show, all the hits, Flav in fine form jamming on bass or drums (whilst rapping), Chuck was enjoying himself, telling a few funny anecdotes, but not long ones. The live band are great, DJ Lord had a quick segment of his own and cut the hell out of a "classic rock" track, great show, great selection of t-shirts, bit steep at 20 quid though.
There was no encore, instead at the end, Flav hung around to pay tribute to the Boston bombings and recent earthquake in China. He made an impassioned speech for peace and unity, a total contrast to some rappers stance on their own pursuit of greed and negativity.
Bar was good, venue was badly lit in the stairwells, so leaving was a bit hazardous. Security were fine, didn't appreciate getting searched at the door, because there was no table to put your stuff on when you get patted down, which sucks.

Favourite moment: Fight The Power, Can't Truss It, Harder than You Think, Flav in general. @
Opening act(s): A couple of DJs, locals I'm guessing. Their mixes were good, but they never acknowledged the crowd. @
