Having followed this Brooklyn songstress' career for several years now, I can hand-on-heart say that she never ceases to amaze with her incredible voice and varied material. She didn't disappoint at the lovely Bush Hall, and playing with her newish band ( who have really tightened things up since the start of the year) gave her the option to play a wider choice of songs than when she plays acoustically. She played a well-balanced set, with a good mix of tracks from her two latest albums plus three new songs ( hopefully to be recorded soon??) and one cover. Nell is so at ease on the stage, a legacy from all the touring she has done over the years ( the ultimate troubadour!) and spends time to explain the inspiration behind much of her writing. Her heart and soul is in every song, be it a wistful, plaintive ballad or a good old fashioned rock'n'roll number. There are surely few artists today so versatile? Lovely that she takes time to meet her fans afterwards, too.....if you get the chance do catch some of her remaining tour dates, you'll be impressed!
