I'd bought a pair of tickets as a surprise for my partner and was very excited about going to see these 'legends of the oche'
The tickets said 'doors at 19:30' so I got us there for 19:20 and the event had already started! we'd missed the first round of selections for people to play against the legends. I was gutted, if you do go to this event make sure you get there very early!
Food was a bit dissapointing, we got mini yorkshires, small chunks of sausage, roast potatoes, gravy for dipping, peanuts and pickled onions. The food was actually very tasty but there wasn't very much of it. Quite a few people were upset about the small amount of food.
Was relieved to find out that there was a second round of selections to play against the legends, my partner got through and got up on stage only to be insulted by the umpire bloke, I'm all for friendly banter but calling someone a "fat bastard" in front of over 200 people is overstepping the mark I think.
My partner is a huge fan of darts and claimed to have had a good night but I just feel that it could have been improved by better ticketing information, better provision of food and slightly less personal remarks on stage by the umpire.
If you buy tickets for this event, get there very early, take a packed lunch and make sure you aren't easily insulted.
